Re: [The Wall] Where are you going - where did you go? ICE HOCKEY or Reply Privately

25th Jan 2014
NIHL 1 North (Moralee Conf)
Solway Sharks 1 Blackburn Hawks 0
Att: 150 (est)
Admission: 7.50
Prog: 1, 24pp, pretty much the perfect prog in both layout and content, well done to those concerned.

Top of the table Solway took on 9 wins in a row Hawks in what turned out to be one of the best games I've seen in some time at this level. It was finally settled by a goal from a rebound in the 55th minute after both sides had thrown everything at eachother in a truly epic contest. Shame the home support is so low in numbers, Hawks must have had at least 50% of the support in the rink whilst the Sharks are a very, very good side who deserve more watching them in what is a very tidy facility.

It's been well described recently so I won't go over it all again other than to say it's smart, clean, modern, bright, the catering is decent and the sight lines for spectators are pretty good.

The rink is right next door to Queen of the South's ground in Dumfries and the Sharks play their home games at 7pm on a Saturday, so plenty of opportunities to double up. I did it with Gala Rugby Union and it made for a cracking day out in the Scottish Borders.
