Since seeing Bison play so well against Telford they lost five out of seven league games and are now firmly mid-table. They also have four players injured. Cats on the other hand had won seven in a row. Today Bison got on the board in 53 seconds, Vantroba scoring from the blue line. The home team were enthusiastic and energetic but lacked conviction against good defence. Cats had a lot of possession and passed it around well. However, only three shots to Bison's 10 in the first period tells its own story. It became a bit more aggressive in the second, and the three-person official team had a lot of decisions to make. They made them very badly if you believed the home supporters. After two 'interesting' calls it was 5 on 3, Cats taking advantage to equalise. Shortly afterwards Bison's Connolly was denied by netminder Lyle on a one-on-one, then again as he poked at a rebound a yard out. Bison started to make errors and lose confidence, and at the end of the period Cats scored again as Skinns went out his goal to deal with a loose puck and didn't get back in time. The third period was just frustrating for Bison as they tried to take the game to Cats but nothing worked out for them, and the calls went against them. Cats were solid and even with 15 shots in the entire game looked more like scoring another. Bison have work to do.
If you're going to/been to a Hampshire Premier League match, I'd really appreciate you filling in a questionnaire - available in the Groundhopping/General section, or just PM me for a copy. Thanks.
