Re: [Tykeoldboy] Violence flares at Huddersfield League cricket match or Reply Privately

Linthwaite Cricket Club statement:

Following the horrific incident last weekend a delegation from the Executive [of the Huddersfield Cricket League] met with police officers and Linthwaite officials. The police officers explained the current situation regarding their investigations and gave us strong assurances regarding the intense presence they intend to have at the Linthwaite club for the remainder of the season. Strong links were established between the league, the club and the police to ensure that any potential problems (which the police consider highly unlikely) can be dealt with immediately. Consequently the Executive now consider it safe for the scheduled fixtures at Linthwaite to go ahead as planned. We consider the safety of players, officials and spectators to be of paramount importance but were most impressed by the assurances given by the police.
