Aint nuneaton a phoenix club themselves? some teams never seem to learn from past mistakes

Currently the 3rd incarnation.

Ilkeston are currently on their 2nd phoenix, but had 2 teams previously "disband" pre-war, both of whom played at the Manor Ground.

And got get me started on the history of football in Cork, who are on their 9th or 10th club depending on how you class FORAS

Think Ilkeston are the only club I know who are in there 2nd incarnation as a phoenix club let's hope it works out for them this time. Wouldn't care they were never that badly supported

The same with Boro on the support front and others who have gone under. The same old story of people in charge of decent clubs who have no idea what they are doing, many are not even 'chasing the dream' but are just totally incompetant.

Apparently Nuneaton at a very advanced stage with a new investor/owner at the 11th hour. The proposal is going in front of the league today. More detail here (10 minutes in)

We're not talking Thai billionaires or ex- premier league footballers . Just a group of local businessmen who at least might have the best interests of the club at heart and will hopefully try and run it properly . The fans are still pretty much in the dark to be honest . With the players wages now being due and the leagues cut off now just about here , it's now or never .

Runs a refurbishment Company . Came in to quote for some work that needed doing and ended up buying the club . Mind you debt free with an owner who just wanted rid and was prepared to off load for nothing . 250 k playing budget and a 30 k owing to the lecey ( already sorted ) . Dirt cheap for an established non league club playing at step 2 .

Although if we read the whole saga, the owner was not prepared to sell to the supporters organisation last season, and there was no attempt to revive the idea of them becoming a supporters run club.

Sunny Nunny says the only outstanding debt has been paid, but he has not specified who had to pay it.The non-league paper article seemed to suggest that the club would dissapear because their was no money to pay wages in the immediate future.

So we have a club with a wage bill around 250K (Sunny Nunny figure)plus costs of stadium rental, maintenance and other general charges.

And where the money had basically run out by the end of September- so no more than 20% of the season gone
I would guess from all this, that the new owner will need to stump up at least 250K a year, and that the club is hardly a going concern.
Clearly difficult to maintain that this is dirt cheap

The Supporters Coop had not got enough money to buy and run the club and some local backers withdrew their support at the time.
That is what was said but since then there have been so many rumours flying about that it was difficult to tell fact from fiction, I gave up long ago.Crazy

I would doubt there's many clubs anywhere in the country who could survive purely on gate receipts without any other form of income , but that's what we've had to try and do all this season and certainly some of last .

They want to hope for the sake of the club that fire is put out real soon or they will be crossing the A5 to do more than just train!

GRIFFON, what is it with the A5? Hinckley, Nuneaton, Atherstone, Tamworth and right the way to the NBH at Telford. Can nobody run a football club in the correct (and legal) way? Await your reply for some more! Shambolic!

Has already announced that the playing budget is too high . The team are switching back to part time ( they have been full time in name only for a while now ) . To be fair on him he came across well and speaking to people who are involved behind the scenes he has already sorted some of the mess that is this football club in just a few days . His biggest problems are convincing the fans / people of the town that this is a new start and sorting the ongoing nuns saga . On the pitch i'll be amazed if we're not relegated , but that's almost a side issue at present .

Sunny Nunny - Do you think the plan is to see out the season and do a Worcester City and drop to Step 5?
