The FA have placed Bardon Hill in the MFL1. It appears that the FA have done very little lateral movements across steps 5/6. The FA seems to want to place teams that are relegated from steps 4/5 into the created spaces & not move 'better fitting' clubs. North Greenford Utd is a great example of this.

reprieve for Pelsall again? ..................................................................................................................................................... Why would the fact that Stapenhill are not coming to MFL 1 affect the relegation of Pelsall Villa? As things stand Southam and Pelsall are relegated to Division Two and are replaced by Alvis and Chelmsley Town according to the rules, anything else is supposition until clubs are informed otherwise at the AGM. That is what my club have been told.

I was speculating based on the 'projections' that Bardon Hill would go back into EMCL, Stapenhill were 'projected' to move across from EMCL and Pilks would resign from the league, leaving the MFL short.

of course, everything is supposition and nothing is guaranteed until after any leagues AGM, but if we didn't speculate it sorts of renders the Restructuring Discussion part of this message board completely useless and we might as well just wait for the results of all leagues AGMs.

Obviously not being Mystic Megs or having the advantage of hindsight we can't legislate for such as the Pilkington thing which makes any supposition useless which is why I wait for actual information which is one of the benefits of this wonderful website as they are always first on the ball.

Step 5 division for 17/18?

maybe at some point in the next few years.

would they give a number of years grace for clubs to get up to the appropriate ground grading a la Essex?

It all depends on what the FA classifies as 'the East Midlands'. If they include the southern half of Lincolnshire. Then I think that they will take existing step 5 clubs from the UCL, NCEL & the MFL. I think there's about 17 clubs at step 5 already in what could be classified as the East Midlands. If they want to reduce all the league's below step 3 to 20 clubs. Then this is doable, but a bit of shunting around will have to be done.

Why would they take all the existing clubs from the step 5 leagues they play in at present. Surely it would be an opportunity for clubs in step six in the Midland League that reside in the East Midlands to progress which they find difficult at the moment with the promotion as it is to the MFL Step 5. There are clearly sides in the UCL Step 5 that would struggle to survive in the MFL step six. Look at results in the cup competitions. Any restructure needs to look at how the East Midlands teams do in their respective Step 6 divisions next season along with the infrastructure involved.

I think the FA will create an East Midlands league at step 5, which stretches from somewhere near the M1 all the way to the coast. The FA will not create an East Midlands league at step 5, that mirrors the same issues as the CML. Those issues are that it overlaps other leagues. So I strongly believe that they'll create a league that would probably take 6 clubs from the NCEL, 6 clubs from the MFL & 6 clubs from the UCL. With probably a southern boundary from Leicester to Boston. The FA allegedly want to make 20 teams per division below step 3. This would make it easier to create the East Midlands league, but I'm doubtful that it'll happen at the same time as the Midlands league at step 3/4.

A club that gets off to a decent start isn't necessarily throwing cash around.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I heard pre-season that we have the largest wage budget in the league. If that's true then nobody's paying much at all

I can vouch that Stapenhill are not paying ridiculous money nor do we have a rich man pumping money in.
We are playing very well so far but by no means unbeatable as results have shown.
Steve Hart enjoys playing for the club as its on his doorstep and a lot of his friends also play, sometimes its not just the money that players play for!
I've said on other forums that I don't believe any side in the EMCL has a massive budget this year which makes for a very interesting league as anyone from 10/11 clubs will fancy their chances of winning the league.

it'll be down to 3 or 4 by April. I reckon there'll be at least half a dozen promotion applicants, possibly double figures if some early risers keep it up

Steve Hart has always had something of a reputation of going where the money is but now playing locally good luck to him. Clubs in the EMCL paying money? Blaby are still at it but not in the way that some would have you believe.

Re: [kirby knitters] East Midlands Counties League 2016-17 or Reply Privately

To be fair I think a lot of clubs watched the Bardon Hill situation and decided its not worth chucking money at it to come tumbling back down again.
I can guarantee that we take more in gate receipts over a season than we pay out so make of that what you will based on our attendances!
A lot of clubs in our league will pay a bit but nothing like what clubs in the past have paid in this league.

Also as a side note for anybody that thinks we are chucking loads of cash at it this year of our starting 11 9 of them were at the club last season and majority the year before when we finished 12th and 16th.
Sometimes teams just click and have a little bit of luck.
We are playing some good stuff though but its early days and usually its about 15 games in before you get a better idea of how the season will play out.

Signing one of the best (if not the best) striker at this level is the reason why you are near the top.

Not denying having a top striker helps us to get to where we are currently but the only thing missing over last couple of seasons was consistency.
We beat the champions in each of last two years but consistently lost to sides lower than us.
Its a long old season so time will tell who finishes where in the end but we are enjoying having positive results so far and are not getting too carried away.
Just nice to see goals as well!

some of my family went in '79 but that was to see Clough's Forest. Doughty, as a lifelong fan, at least kept the Forest spirit alive. Fawaz has ruined the club.

Anyhoo, Forest aren't in the EMCL (no snarky "yet" please windy)

Shades of the 2nd year of this league here when Hinckley FC pulled the plug late on causing mayhem and p****ing the reformed Gresley FC fans off big time though they eventually won the title.

Looking at the results this season, if Greenwood Meadows have there results expunged. Then there will be a couple of teams that'll benefit.
SNA, WB & Birstall have taken 6 points each off them this season & Aylestone have picked up 1 point off two games.
At the bottom Holbrook have picked up zero points off 2 games. Gedling have picked up zero points from a single game & Graham SP have picked up 6 points off two games.

An EMCL club have emailed the leagues secretary & asked if Greenwood Meadows records are going to be expunged. The reply from the secretary was, because they've played more than 75% of the fixtures they use different rules. What are the options available to the league? I know 3 points for every non-played game, but the result will be given as 0-0 is an option.

The latter sounds best and also a good move to not expunge results so late in the day.

I know certain clubs aren't happy, because FA Cup entry is dependent on league placement.

Thats the price of clubs not seeing the season out. The league at the moment is very tight for the potential last couple of spots.

Surely the league's rules have explicit instructions on how to deal with withdrawals?

Pity the EMCL rules aren't readily available to read. The NCEL website would be a great example for the EMCL to follow.

As a Step 6 league they should be using the FA Standardised rules anyway. What does it say in the Northern Counties East League rules?

You would certainly think so with the EMCL as they have had enough practice.

following a committee meeting yesterday the league have decided to...

seek further advice from the FA

"At a Management Committee meeting held on Thursday 20th April a decision was taken on the failure by Greenwood Meadows FC to complete their last four
scheduled league games. Given the seriousness of the matter it was agreed that further advice on the decision would be sought from the FA before being
notified to the club. Once that has been concluded a further announcement wIll be made."

In other words let's delay it until the end of the season and fingers crossed whatever we decide to do doesn't affect anything.
How difficult is it to just expunge a teams record?

It could also be seen as them washing their hands of the situation and letting someone else sort it but i think they have taken the correct course of action due to what is at stake.

It's not difficult, just not necessarily right. The rules say that if a club has not completed 75% of its fixtures their record will be expunged. They are less clear on what should happen if they have completed 75% of their fixtures, as is the case here.

Results were expunged in 2010 when Hinckley pulled the plug very late but did the league or FA sort it?

4th to 8th is hotly contested at the moment

currently it's
75 (+36) Aylestone Park
73 (+32) Blaby & Whetstone Athletic
71 (+45) Radford
71 (+24) Kimberley Miners Welfare
70 (+38) Dunkirk

expunging gives
74 (+37) Aylestone
68 (+44) Radford
67 (+35) Dunkirk
67 (+26) Blaby
65 (+19) Kimberley

awarding 3 points at 0-0
75 (+36) Aylestone
74 (+45) Radford
73 (+38) Dunkirk
73 (+32) Blaby
71 (+24) Kimberley

going on PPG, which is another option I believe, we currently have
1.900 - Aylestone
1.842 - Dunkirk
1.781 - Blaby
1.775 - Radford
1.775 - Kimberley

nightmare

doesn't anyone remember what happened when Spennymoor resigned from the Northern Premier in 2005?

With 33 games played the NPL moved to expunge Spennymoor record, but on appeal from some member clubs, the FA ruled that the record of results should be kept and that each remaining fixture would see 3 points awarded to the opposing team, but 0-0 score as regards goals for and against.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_conf/4516821.stm

can't see it being any other outcome but this as precedent set by FA already.

The only question I'd like clarification on. If Greenwood Meadows record isn't being expunged. Then they'll be still shown as an EMCL. Will they be demoted/relegated come what may? Or if they can build another management team/squad will the EMCL allow them to continue in the league. But fine them heavily?(because they won't end in one of the three relegation spaces).

They are now third from bottom so in a relegation position after being docked 12 points for 4 postponed games. They have 2 games remaining so could lose 6 more points. Greenwood have not resigned from the league. The clubs owner is not replying to calls from the EMCL. if they don't contact the league by Wednesday the Radford game will be postponed.

I know they owe the Notts FA £1k in historical unpaid fines. The owner lives abroad & any club that wants to play at the ground must use the Greenwood Meadows name. So I guess they'll fail to play the last two games & the EMCL will make sure they're in the bottom 2 places(by deducting more points). So if there's any reprieve, it'll be given to Gedling MW.

the club is suspended but, according the latest (now closed) club Twitter account, the club actually shut down a few weeks ago

and they haven't got enough matches left to escape the bottom 3 even if a miracle happened, so they're provisionally relegated

AND I've just noticed we've been given a walkover and 3 points, so I decision has been made at 3 point 0-0 games

I've heard that West Bridgford might refuse promotion. Apparently there have been issues between the club, ground, and Colts parents. Don't know how accurate that is though

Are you allowed to refuse promotion having applied for it?
There were rumours going around that they had failed due to the walk from changing room to pitch but presumed just a rumour.
Would SNA go to MFL or NCEL?

SNA are slap bang in the middle, so for them it'd be down to who comes down from Step 4-5 and 5-6.

As for WB, when is it too late to withdraw an application for promotion?

Flackwell Heath refused promotion a few years ago, so I would say yes you can.

The second placed team would then be in line for promotion if their ground was deemed suitable.

Flackwell Heath withdraw their application long after the season had finished. In fact it was being switched from their initial allocation of SL1(C) to SL1(SW) that precipitated the withdrawal citing extreme travelling cost that now had to be found after the initial allocations.

That was how we were promoted to the Evo-Stik NPL as runners up in NCEL. Bridlington had applied and won the league but then opted not to go up. We were then asked whether we still wished to as runners up because we had a better PPG than the runners up in two other leagues.

I'm glad that this was sorted properly. Because there was an still an outstanding issue over the RO v SNA abandoned game. SNA losing the game, down to 10 men & then a broken leg. That turned out to be fine & RO are refusing to play it after the EMCL told them to replay it. Bardon Hill went up under a cloud a couple of years ago, so congrats to WB on winning it the right way.

question is whether they go PPG (SNA 2nd, RO 9th) or just leave it (SNA 3rd, RO 10th)
