Sorry to disappoint also, but I suspect that most of our regulars will know your avatar is that of Julie Fleeting but I'm as likely to pay to watch her and her mates have a kickabout as I am to see the ballskills of Tanni Grey-Thompson.
And as you've pointed out that you're not a lass, I find your zeal about womens football confusing. To my mind it's barely the same sport. I could find parallels in the differences between the Olympics and the Paralympics but some may draw an incorrect assumption from that. Each has their merits but let's not pretend that the same, or even similar, fare is on offer.

buncranaboy - Fleeting is only an MBE.........I have no worries about men who are passionate about mens football or any other sport, its all down to individual taste. At arsenal home games there are on average more men than female supporters, i guess they appreciate something in the womens game, or they wouldnt waste their sunday afternoons.Arsenal are at the top at the moment and play neat attacking football, the games are played in a good manner, very sportingingly, no diving, no conning referess, no cheating, hardly any swearing, maybe that side of it attracts the fans.......it's still the fastest growing sport in the UK,

I've watched the Arsenal Ladies on many occasions and enjoyed it. They are well-organised and play good football - it's not as physical or as fast as the mens game of course, but still excellent value.

New grounds this season - 09; Total grounds - 449.
New this season:Dudley Sports, Blaby & Whetstone Athletic, AFC Telford United, Handsworth, MK Dons, Barrow Town, Heath Hayes, Lichfield City, Stretton Eagles.

Watching women running around and tackling each other? Not quite female mud wrestling though.

When the opposing team has the ball, women's teams don't close down their opponents nearly as quickly and physically as the men, so players have a lot more space and time on the ball, which actually makes for more opportunity to display skills, and more goals. And the defending and goalkeeping is often dreadful, which also makes for more goals.

It's a numbers game isn't it - from any pool of participants in any activity, only a small percentage can reach a very high level of skill and performance. As far fewer women play football than men, the number who reach a high level of skill and performance is also much smaller.

Just a side thought, but I wonder how long before we hear something along the lines of Women football players should be paid just as much as men.

If your talking about what I think you are, let's have equality all round in that event. If the girls want the same money, make them play the same amount as the men.

Northwood, Threave Rovers, Queen of the South, Rochdale, Arsenal, Watford, Rangers (the real ones, NOT qpr), New England Revolution, and a few others.

Back to the original thread, whilst its been muted for years, after going to training last night it would seem that we will soon be having a fully revamped clubhouse at Fareham. Hopefully it means the end of the school desks and chairsCool
