is it a trophy
Guess the Thomas Lipton Trophy stolen from West Auckland and probably melted down now

Not a trophy, either, and therefore not a trophy melted down to make teabags.

Could this tangible object be described as a piece of football aparatus?

No.

I think the tangibility element is throwing a few of you off the scent. At the time it existed you could have touched it, but it is not really a "thing".

You are indeed correct - it is something to do with the Channel Islands.

And therefore to answer the next two as well it is nothing to do with the Isle of Man nor Gibraltar.

Is it the proposal of that team from Guernsey wanting to join the step 5 league in Kent?

Is it Sark's unenviable record of being the only team never to score a goal in the Island Games? 0-70 in four games!

Not quite, as the record itself is not tangible whereas the Sark TEAM who played in the Island games in 2003 were. But I think you are close enough to declare you the winner.

As far as I know there has never been a Sark team before or since but they did assemble a team to play in neighbouring Guernsey in 2003. Their BEST result was a 0-15 defeat to Froya in Alderney (happy memories of the boat ride) in the playoff for 13th/14th places, but their most heroic was holding out for the last 15 minutes of their Group match against Greenland, who needed to win 21-0 to progress and were 16-0 up with 15 to go, thereby helping the Isle of Wight to qualify !
