Like many Posters on here NO WHERE. I had to stick local due to an evening engagement which ruled out MK Dons v Brentford. My planned Double of Greens United followed by South Kilburn fell by the wayside overnight. Other local games I have not done Eversley and Woodley Town have also gone as has virtually everything local for a revisit so I will be following events at MK Dons via the Computer. Frown

Yes, bleedin nowhere! had two choices and chose wrong one. Could have gone to Woodley Sports but instead went to Emley. Got there at 2.20 to find game off. Whoever decided game was on wants shooting. Some two-bit local referee? Apparently Yorkshire Amateur refused to play on it.

Finally get to start off a thread with ... Stratford Town A (but really their reserves) 1 Blackwood 5 Midland Combination Division 3 Attendance 41 (of whom a good 30 were groundhoppers) Admission free Teamsheets made available by STFC (2 versions) and Andy Molden.

There was a veritable cornucopia of groundhoppers including apl, acmold, warwick brake and pete amongst many others including some from South London for this one of very few games to survive the freeze. We were made to feel very welcome by the home team with a revised teamsheet to reflect a late change being particularly helpful. This is a 3G pitch and played superbly throughout as did an extremely impressive visiting Blackwood who have only dropped one point all season and on this form it was not hard to see why. The pitch is fenced off with no spectator access at either end and the far side reserved for officials and substitutes. Each side of the pitch was roped off. Blackwood played some superb stuff to go in 4-1 up at half time including one goal of the highest quality before easing off the throttle in the second half. They rubbed salt in the wounds with a 90th minute fifth which would be a candidate for goal of the season. A cracking effort from both sides with Stratford not being embarrassed against a team who, imho, should be at least one, if not two, divisions higher in the Midland Combination.

Also at Stratford Town A. I think it is possible that all 41 were groundhoppers! Most enjoyable game and a real bonus to tick a new ground on such a dreadful day. Good afternoon out and home for 5.00. Tea: 50p.

WARNING-NOT NON-LEAGUE
Barclays Premier League: Blackburn Rovers 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur; Attendance: 26,490; Admission: (£28); Programme: £3; Coffee: £1.80; Cheese & onion pie: £2.20
Any port in a storm- with the weather forecast being so bad I took up a friend's kind offer on Friday to join him at Ewood- he has some heavily discounted season tickets and had one spare- and fair play to Rovers for making football pretty cheap for their fans who commit for the season. Had I bought on the day it would have been £28 for my seat in the upper tier of the Jack Walker stand.
Had forgotten quite how mind numbingly boring the Premier League can be. Spurs rarely got out of second gear and some of their passing was very unimpressive for a side with top four ambitions. Rovers look a poor side to me with unfathomable tactics. Crouch got the goals, in added time in the first half and a second late on. If McCarthy's shot had gone in instead of hitting the post in Rovers' best spell early in the second half it may have been a different result but I rather doubt it.
Ewood is still like going to a proper football ground, the concourses inside the stadium are roomy and good info re team news etc is relaid via television screens. The view from the main stand is superb with a good rake to the seats and a quick getaway meant I was home 40 minutes after the final whistle (the back road through Tockholes and Belmont). Wouldn't like to watch this level of football too often and it will make me appreciate my next trip to a non-league game in the back of beyond even more.

My sentiments exactly!

170 mile round trip to Emley for absolutely nothing!

Before I feel too sorry for myself my three mates from Liverpool headed north to a "safe" bet at Petershill only to find that game off. They then went to Hamilton where it was called off 15 mins before kick off!

Midland Alliance
Coventry Sphinx P Barwell P

Decided to catch the first train arriving after 12:15 from CMK, options being a) in the direction of Coventry b) Euston - for Grays v York or c) Shepherds Bush (for QPR).

Arrived at Sphinx Drive shortly before 2, and was delighted to see the players warming up on the pitch. Referee to make a further inspection at half past.

Took the first sup of a pint at ten past 2 and was dismayed to see the players walk in tracksuited up and ordering drinks.

On the plus side it was a nice stroll back to the station and I bought a heater. That's as good as it gets.

South West Peninsula League Division One East
Royal Marines 2 Budleigh Salterton 0
Admission £3 incl basic programme, welcome hot cup of coffee 50p.
Attendance - somewhere in the region of 75, including a few other 'hoppers.

With the news from the excellent Peninsula League forum postponement service that the games at Elburton, Vospers Oak Villa and Royal Marines were ON, I made the decision to make my second visit to Endurance Park. Good decision, as the two Plymouth games were the victims of late postponements by the match refs.

The Marines are one of the most welcoming clubs I've ever visited, and have done themselves and the league proud in this their second season at this level. They went to to the top of the table with this win, where the 2-0 score flattered Budleigh to be honest, the Marines front 3 in particular playing some really nice football.

Humber Premier League, Premier Division
Chalk Lane 1 Beverley Town 1 (att 34 h/c)
Played on a snow-covered but perfectly playable 3G surface at the Hull University sports ground. Both goals came in a very entertaining and good quality first half, with the visitors going ahead. The second half was dull by comparison, but I've got no complaints after getting a game on a new ground today.
The ground is fairly typical for a 3G pitch, but has the advantage over some similar grounds of having spectator access around all four sides.
No admission charge or programme.

A big thank you must go to all at Stratford Town, I got permission to run a sheet off for fellow travellers of Stratford "A"'s results and a league table. When I presented these to Alan Stephens the match sec / "A" team manager he pointed me in the direction of Brian Rose the club sec who then said I will type up the teams and run everyone a copy off, as stated above he even then did an amended version for the late team change. Everyone was welcome in the clubhouse, and then they served up a tea or coffee at half time for 50p for a very large cup.

They also made sure anyone who wanted an old prog from this season was given one (free of charge) and they offered anyone who wanted it, a tour of the main ground.

The "Champagne" was flowing for Mr Warwick Brake and myself who both finished the Mid Comb today.

Hythe & Dibden 2-3 Amesbury Town
Wessex 1st Division

Admission: £5
Programme: Included with admission
Tea: £1
Attendance: ~50

Awkward choice today. Hengrove (who played) seemed a bit too much of a risk, and Swindon was tempting. Plumped for Havant in the end given the option of heading to Hythe or Blackfield. Checked on the way, still on, but off on arrival. Spoke to a Bishops Stortford player who let me know the ref had made the decision a few minutes earlier. Rechecked with Hythe who were fairly confident.

Not the easiest to find parking at, a lot of space nearby is time limited. A recreation ground, and depite not being the most basic with a couple of stands the layout of space all around for dog walkers and those with youngsters does make it far more open. Clubhouse is quite small, but (as thinc01 from these forums put it) quite warm, which is certainly helpful.

The game itself was fairly entertaining. Both sides had scored three the previous weekend and had only taken a point between them. Easy to see why, both like to get forward and defences are a bit on the suspect side. Fairly even throughout, best of the chances early on. Hythe 1-0 up after about five minutes, Amesbury level a few minuters later. 2-1 to Hythe on the half hour. Amesbury leveled with a penalty early in the second half and the winner arrived 15 minutes from time.

Both sides could have taken something from this, but Amesbury probably shaded it in terms of chances, hitting the bar too in the first half.

As well as thinc01, also bumped into royals and his lad here. No other familiar faces to me here.

I desperately wanted out the house today and after Witheridge changed days and Bickleigh suffered a postponement, I ended up at:

Western League Division 1
Minehead 0-1 Devizes Town
(@ Minehead Recreation Ground)

Admission: £4
Programme: £1
Attendance: 63
Food: Bovril + Double Decker: £1.09 (they didn't do hot food)

A struggle to watch this one without screaming at both sides strikers. The bottom two of this division and you could tell as both sides pasted off great chances before a late header gave bottom side Devizes the win.

The Recreation Ground is basically a large stand with the clubhouse built underneath it and the rest is a public park which is railed off. Glad to get a game today, but could have chosen better.

not been posting my trips for a while but due to the fact some of you guys will have very little to read on this thread today,I went to

Caernarfon 0 Buckley Town 1 Cymru Alliance
Admission £5 Prog £1.50
att 110 h/c

After very kindly being offered some free premiership action (which I turned down mainly based on a poor evenings entertainment at WhiteHart Lane on wednesday), things were looking bleak for me once Crewe decided to call there game off just before midday (that was my banker as I had given up on the hope of non league football). However I call to the very friendly sec from Caernarfon confirmed game on.
I set off with sat nav in hand and arrived twenty mins before kick off, still very nervous about the possible wasted trip and no back ups whatsover. My joy was uncontrollable on arrival and the blokes on the turnstiles were wondering quite what I was so excited about. I told them about the complete freeze through non league and I was welcomed with open arms and a friendly welcome is definately assured here.
The ground has recently undogone a slight improvement with the old ram shackle end (they aretwo but its the bigger of the two) replaced by an impressive new seated stand (seats from Gay Meadow I think). The rest of the ground is excellent especially for this level although very tired looking, which certainly adds to its charm.
Hot food and drinks readily available and an ok programme available upon entering the ground.
The pitch was in poor shape, but you could hardly blame them, they have had plenty of rain recently and then frost, which has meant they havent been able to cut the pitch for some time. Fortunately it was a balmy 3 degrees today and jack frost had kept his distance so this game wasclearly never in doubt.
As always in this league, fairly committed stuff and plenty of attempts to play some decent football and despite a bit of quality shortage the game was not too bad. The now mandatory 55mins passed and neither keeper tested much until the decisive goal (after about 70 mins ish) a stunning dipping volley from 30 yards and the points went back with Buckley.
Caernarfon have certainly fallen from grace recently, but they do have a hardy and vocal band of followers who continue to support their team through thick and thin, I for one hope they can get back to the summit of Welsh football in good time.
Now Im off to watch my third gig of a very busy week
Seasons greetings to one and all

Also at this one after the demise of Cardiff City and the whole of the Welsh League (bar South Gower).

Poor game and County looked far from being a team 10-points clear at the start of play. Still, thankfull for the Charlie Henry goal at the end as i feared my first nil-nil at the 40th attempt this season. County are walking away with the league and if you can win when playing poorly then it looks good for them for the rest of the season.

Despite the game not being the best, well done to the Spytty Park groundsmen for getting this game on when so many were postponed in South Wales.

Blue Square South
Woking 1-3 Bath City
Admission £12
Chips, coffee & bovril £3.40
Attendance 1190

Had the choice of this, the game at Molesey or playing some records for my Saturday afternoon's entertainment. Mate phoned, offered to drive so off to Molesey we went as it was the only CCL game to survive the weather as of 1.15pm. The match referee proved there's no such thing as 'definitely on' until he says so as the game was called off just before we pulled into the car park so it was a quick turn around and off to Woking. Got there just as the ground was observing a minute's silence for one of their 17 year old academy players who died in a car crash on Tuesday.
Woking dominated the first fifteen minutes and looked like they were gonna score a hatful as they turned the Bath defence inside out but the goal didn't come. Bath got into the game and went 1-0 up from a penalty after about half an hour and increased their lead just on half time.
Woking pulled one back half way through the second half when Ricketts launched the ball into the air which the goalie was comfortably going to catch. Only he didn't. The ball slipped through his hands and into the net. This gave Woking hope but Bath snuffed that out with quarter of an hour to go when they made it 3-1.
I stood in the Kingfield Road End throughout the game which meant I was next to the Bath supporters who sung their little hearts out for the full 90 minutes.

Woking 1-3 Bath City
Blue Square South
Admission £12.00, prog £2.50
Att; 1190

Seeing as this was the only game in a twenty mile radius, my first visit to Kingfield since Farnborough Town last played their.

Pitch in shade for the entire game and another referee may not have started. Woking started brightly and spent the first fifteen minutes in the Bath half. After that they seemed to lack ideas. Bath took the lead from the penalty spot and then doubled their lead on the stroke of half time as Edwards' header hit the bar and he put the rebound in with his nether regions.

Second half exactly the same, Woking good for the first part and then faded. Got themselves a goal back as the Bath keeper made a complete hash of a routine chipped free kick that his grandmother would have caught. Bath then extended the lead as Lewis Hoggs free kick was curled around the wall and in.

The second BSS game I have seen this season and definitely the better of the two.

Dover Athletic 1-1 St Albans City - Blue Square South

Admission £10. Programme £2. Attendance 593.

Dover had covered the whole pitch from midweek and were very confident the game would be on, as there had been little snow on the East Kent coast. The attendance was really disappointing, being the only non-league game in Kent, but the heavier snow in the rest of Kent, and the appalling traffic congestion around Dover caused by France closing down seems to have put many off. In the end, the effort to get the game on has proved expensive, the gate being hundreds down on the usual.

The pitch was perfect, but the game did not rise to any heights. The visitors looked sharp at times, but hardly dangerous. Dover never got their passing going, and did not do enough to claim a win.

so all my possibles are falling over one by one ;

gloucester senior league at rockleaze not deciding till 12 so could wait for that or i could go to mk dons
who seemed certain game would be on but i don't like the dons for the same reason as many others and
i would prefer to do the ground when we get drawn against them or as seems likely play them in the league

so i was stuck

but mr cheltenham has spotted south gower and what is more confirmed it is on ; time is very tight but lo and behold some 3 hours later
his car with me inside arrives at the ground with 3 minutes to spare

the ground is neat and tidy with nice wooden railings all round , a concrete path along one side and a more than adequate brand new
covered area

the pitch is in perfect condition and the home side win 2 to 1 against risca united though i thought the game lacked quality
or was that just that my feet got very cold

there is a nice clubhouse but no food during the game though tea/coffee was available ; very good programme included in
£3 admission

south gower's ground is in the middle of nowhere and not as i thought just outside swansea ; it is part of a small sports complex with a
nice rugby ground and bowls and squash

so a good day out to an unexpected ground and plenty of interesting football chat from my man with the car

Leigh Genisis 4 AFC Fylde 1
Admission £8/£5
Programme £2 - very over priced.
Tea £1.70. I voted with my pocket and declined to hand over my hard earned cash!
Attendance 151

I'd been leaving this ground for such a day. The under soil heating meant this match was on and there were quite a few hoppers in the ground. I have to say this is the first non league ground where I've had my bag searched and seen such officious stewarding. I would add these were probably nothing to do with the football club. One hopper was forbidden to take photos. The small crowd were treated like a premier lague crowd. It's an impressive stadium but with such a small crowd, sadly lacking in atmosphere. The game itself was entertaining with the home side racing into a three goal lead. The second half wasn't as good but another home goal and a lst minute goal from Fylde helped the goal average. The second goal from the Leigh player, Jack Dorney was superb. Vititing this ground today made me feel I wasn't wasting a Saturday.
