Q: Did this happen in a match in one of the following competitions - Champions League (or European Cup), UEFA Cup and European Cup Winners Cup?

Yes it was one of those three Paul.

G: John Pemberton's own goal in PSV v Leeds on 31/10/95.

No nothing to do with Leeds.

Right - as Jamesie's about to shoot, I feel compelled to be impulsive and go for Jeremy Goss beating Bayern Munich in 1993 at their gaffe.

On the Ancona thing, just Google "Battle of Ancona" and "Birmingham City". It was during Barry Fry's tenure - nuf sed!

You were right to be impulsive about Goss, Norwich and Bayern... but I was after one thing in particular.

Paddy, my guess was Jeremy Goss' volley against Bayern Munich in 1993. If mine is the exact answer, I'll let you have it Angelic

I hate to say it but this is the EXACT ANSWER I was looking for. It is Jeremy Goss' screamer from the edge of the box, as he intimated in his post yesterday it was from twenty yards.

So Jamesie wins again, a hat-trick. But can he keep his word and give it to Buncranaboy? We wait with baited breath Shocked

The exact answer would be that it was Bayern's only home defeat to an English club according to Wiki though I thought Howard Gayle scored there to help Liverpool win way back...........

Same goal; same player....................
