If the correct verdict has been passed then I hope no other club touches him with a barge pole when he is released.

Oh but they will. They'll just use the usual excuse of "He's served his time and paid his dues to society, and he should be allowed to move on".

Unfortunately you are right, there will be someone ready to take him on, football as a whole should do something to stop people like Ched Evans getting employed in the game...

If any of us got convicted of rape or any other serious offence, we would be virtually unemployable after we 'paid our debt to society'

Lee Hughes springs to mind, amongst many others. Ok he's not a convicted rapist but he still killed someone and did his best to cover his tracks. Served his sentence and walked back into a nice little contract with Notts County. When it comes to football, a players reputation ON the field far precedes their reputation off it.

In my line or work I would be rendered unemployable for the rest of my life. Mark my words, Ched Evans will walk straight into another club when he's released (in about 2 years).

Hughes was in court last month on a sexual assault charge. Can't find any news of the outcome.

Can see an appeal coming though as his mate got off which seems a bit strange as they both said they had sex with her and were both charged with rape.

That's not true.
I've worked with people who've done time for murder in the past.
Depending on what you class a 'serious' offence, there will probably be an awful lot of people who you think no-one will employ working right now.

Oh I see, my mistake. I didn't realise it was a shortened version of his name. I assumed it was one of these new fangled names parents give to kids like apple, kai, chardonnay, sky etc.

So you think anyone committing this type of crime should do their time and then be allowed to spend the rest of their life on the dole at our expense? Don't tell the Clacton chavs, they'd bite your hand off for that deal. Unsure

He has been in court more recently. The case is expected to be committed to a Crown Court but there's no news of that.

I'd class 'rape' and 'causing death by dangerous driving and fleeing the scene' as pretty serious offences. In my line of work I would be totally unemployable if I committed the former, and probably also the latter. There's a lot of decent law-abiding people out there who could do the job instead.

I'm not in a position to comment on the rights and wrongs of todays verdict but rape is often very difficult too prove, a friend of mine was charged with rape and went through a living hell before being cleared.

There was a report in our local paper this week about a woman who was jailed for making a false rape allegation.

That maybe so, but I for one don't want a portion of my tax pound going towards supporting serious criminals once they're on the outside for the rest of their lives. I haven't got all the answers but I most certainly think they should have to earn a living like the rest of us.

No sarcasm intended. I really didn't realise it was a shortened version of his name. And there is a trend these days for parents to give their kids ridiculous names.

I blame Frank Zappa. He started it by calling his daughter Moon Unit! Unsure
