It's going to be one up from the Invicta League, this year - but no relegation from the Kent Premier. The latest rumour is that Champions Bly Spartans have recently failed their ground grading - so that might put runners-up Phoenix Sports in the frame.

Eltham Palace are pretty certain but seem to be the only one from the Kent County league.
Crown Alexandre from the South London Alliance awaiting FA decision on allowing them to join.
F.C Romania rumoured to be moving to South East London and going into KIL.This might be nonsense but you never know.
I think thats it. A few others applied but it seems were not acceptable.

I'd expect a few to be accepted as the KIL looks like it'll steadily be 'drained of talent' up into the KL, year-by-year.

As an aside, will the Mx. League really allow FC Romania, Interwood & Southall all to progress upward this season, as all three seem pretty determined to join step 6 divisions for 2012-13?

I hadn't heard that Interwood wanted to move up - but regardless - I don't think any league should have any right to stop teams moving up - they could maybe cap it sensibly at 3 to stop half their league leaving at once but I don't see the problem with 3 leaving a division - the Middlesex has about 30% of its clubs leave annually anyway so surely they're used to it by now - they never seem short of newcomers!

Leagues should be trying to work together for the good and benefit of their member clubs IMO, not protecting their own empires - if there are vacancies above they should be filled if clubs want to leave step 7 leagues to fill them! This problem seems to rear its head in the the Gloucestershire and Somerset County Leagues regularly where they have both specified they will only let 1 club per league go up - despite the fact there are 6 vacancies in the Western League and both leagues have huge numbers of clubs and leagues below them to replenish instantly!

Agreed. Leagues are there to serve clubs, not - as many league officials seem to think - the other way around.

I thought the FA had imposed a rule that only one club can be promoted from a step 7 league to step 6 and that club must finish in the top five.
But just a thought what if two or more clubs wanted to be promoted to different step 6 leagues. What then? Would that rule still apply.

You're absolutely right that leagues should be there to serve clubs, but don't forget for those rules which aren't imposed nationally, the clubs themselves will have been those that approved them at an AGM.

Could the Kent League not handle a whopping 17 teams in its division then?

Anyway, Whyteleafe's in Surrey - so I'd imagine they'd much prefer playing in CoCo Prem than trekking to Kent every other week and the CoCo isn't expecting anyone else from Step 4 so there's no reason they shouldn't be placed there!

Yes, logic would dictate that the lack of a relegated club to replace Herne Bay would make it MORE likely that Whyteleafe would be placed in the Kent League, and the current plans to merge half of Sussex into the Kent League in a couple of seasons' time might make the county boundaries less of a factor. Also, don't forget that we had Croydon in the Kent League, just a few seasons ago. There was some talk that the phoenixed Croydon Athletic might be placed in the Kent League, but COCO seems more likely now - apparently.

Obviously our preference doesn't come to any decision the FA make (unless there is a precedent for Mike Appleby making off the record phone calls?) but think you'll find a split opinion.

Personally, I'd go KL. CCL is an Isthmian mindset from the days Kent fed into the Southern League.

I am not sure that the plan is to place several East Sussex teams in the Kent League.
I thought the plan was to scrap the Kent League and create a new league covering South East London,Kent and East Sussex with a completely new name.

There was some talk that the phoenixed Croydon Athletic might be placed in the Kent League, but COCO seems more likely now - apparently.

AFC Croydon Athletic have applied to join the Combined Counties. It looks like they're doing it as a new club rather than a continuation of the old club. I think I'm right in saying they'll be playing their games at The Arena (Croydon FC) if they get in.
It's possible they've applied to join the Kent League as well but I haven't heard that mentioned.

I don't think the old club has ceased to exist. It has just stopped playing matches so they can't claim to be a phoenix club.
I read on their rams forum that when they went to their meeting with the FA they were supported by representatives of the Co Co league and the London FA so it seems nailed on where they will be placed.

I see from the FA website that the new club has only applied to play in the Vase next season so it appears they're not trying to claim anything to do with the old lot apart from the name. Good luck to them.
I can't see any problems with them joining CCL1. There are currently four spaces and, as far as I'm aware, four applications to join although I suspect one of the applicants won't be allowed in.

Having read a few comments on the City Awards Kent League Forum and being unable thus far to register and respond directly, I want to make it absolutely clear that Whyteleafe have not been approached by the FA (nor anyone else) about moving to the Kent League rather than the CCL Prem.

All discussions on the matter are no more than message board chit chat.

However, if Mr Appleby wants to give me a call he knows where to find me ;-)

Ok I will tell them it's pure speculation.
I assume you are an official of the club from what you just said.
In Kent we are desperate for something different to happen.
I know the 14 to 12 has not met with total approval but it has in Kent.
The idea of having a proper league to follow with 22 clubs is a vast improvement and they can call it whatever they like.

The Kent League does look an oddity with a 16 teams plus two divisions of reserve teams and having a completely different Step 6 league feeding into it.

Nonetheless, it always seems to provide stronger teams to R1S than either the CCL or Sussex County.

Personally, I'd go for the Kent League option (if it were an option), and not entirely because it looks an easier route back up. I'm certainly not comfortable with the notion that we would walk it though - having witnessed some truly dire football from us this season just gone!

Croydon Athletic have yet to be dissolved and they still hold the lease on the Crem which they refuse to relinquish. So effectively it's been mothballed.

I can't see how AFC Croydon can afford to pay rent on it though even if were the Majeeds to relinquish it.
