No mention of their transfer to the CCL.
I suppose, as they're still a Sussex League club until the AGM, it's up to that league to decide if they're fit for step 5 before any transfer into another league. I doubt the CCL had much say in it. Having said that, if the ground grading was late then the CCL wouldn't allow them to compete at step 5 next season either.
So it looks like they're either coming across into CCL1 or they've decided against the move and are staying in Sussex 2.
As other clubs have found out in the past, to appeal to the FA about ground grading, especially the timing of getting the correct grade, is nearly always futile.

Re: [VP] Dorking Wanderers To Appeal Non-Promotion [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

I would be surprised if the FA allow Dorking Wanderers appeal unless they have some very exceptional reasons for not having the correct ground grading. I was told that they only have a H Grading and even that was questionable at deadline day. Plenty being said on the Nomad Forum, about clubs not having a say in the matter but i can only conclude that the league committee had no alternative but to follow the FA Instructions and not permit Dorking Wanderers promotion despite the League Chairman recommending the club be promoted. The SCFL have in the past few years relegated clubs from Div 1 and denied promotion to teams in Div 2 to Div 1 due to ground grading issues so at least they are being consistent. If the FA allow the appeal it would then allow the league to promote teams in the future if the grading is achieved after deadline day.The statement made by the Dorking Wanderers Chairman is not going to help relations with the SCFL management committee by making claims that the SCFL MC are guilty of serious foul play in stopping them getting the correct grading by deadline day. Not sure how he can make such a comment as it is the clubs responsibility to get the ground up to scratch and the requirements are set down by the FA not the league.

Can't help but feel they might have burned their bridges with the Sussex FA. To be honest I'd like to see them in the CCL where they fit better. Lovely ground for the views if not the grading!

The point is that improvements and grading visits do not have to wait until March. You can do them at any time.

I accept your point that grading/improvement visits can be done before March but it appears that when the grading visit was done the ground only recieved a H Grade so the club had not done the work. So unless Dorking Wanderers have some evidence to say that the league either stopped them from doing the necessary work or told them that the work could be finished after the March deadline or gave them other incorrect info i am not sure how the Chairman make a claim without possibly leaving himself and the club open to action by the league and possibly the FA. At the end of the day the FA have issued the requirements for ground gradings and it is up to the clubs to meet the requirements within the necessary timeframe, it is not as though these requirements have suddenly been brought into force.

According to Nomad they've just been refused entry to the Combined Counties.

They have been refused entry to the CCL. That was announced by the League Secretary a couple of days ago but it wasn't the CCL that made the decision.

There's a piece on Wanderers in their local rag.

DORKING Wanderers are taking their complaint all the way to the FA after they were turned down for promotion to Division One of the Sussex County League.

Wanderers were refused promotion from Division Two, despite finishing third, because they failed to meet the necessary ground grading before the deadline of March 31 this year.

However, Wanderers chairman and manager Marc White is unhappy with the decision, especially after spending more than £40,000 in the last few months improving their West Humble ground.

White, who was hoping for a second successive promotion after winning Division Three last term, has alleged Wanderers were treated unfairly by the Sussex County League.

"I believe there was serious foul play on the part of the league but I can't go into it because of the appeal we have going to the FA," White claimed. "The league chairman, Peter Bentley, has been great but certain members of the committee seem to be working against us.

"We have a 40-page document of evidence which is going to the FA and I expect a decision shortly. With the evidence we have we believe it would be very difficult for the FA to ignore it."

And with White believing the league have "something personal" against Wanderers as a club, he is still considering asking to move to a parallel league, the Combined Counties League.

"I know Division One of the Combined Counties League are already accepting two new teams, I don't know about the Premier Division. It's an option," White added.

League chairman Bentley did not want to comment on White allegations of "serious foul play" but did explain the Surrey club's promotion was put to a vote.

"As they didn't pass ground grading on the required date it was put to a vote between the chairmen of the current Division One clubs," Bentley explained. "Some clubs were sympathetic to their extenuating circumstances for not passing ground grading, which included hoax phone calls, but some weren't. It is a democracy and it was voted that they shouldn't be promoted. They have the right to appeal to the FA though and I believe they are doing so."

When I first read about Dorking's problems, I thought that it was their own fault. However what crazy world has a vote on who goes up and who does not.

Were they just late getting the work finished? What was outstanding at 31st March. The FA are strict on ground grading now for all level 6 and 7 leagues.

They did not have the work done by 31st March. It has been stated now on the Nomad forum that Dorking Wanderers only got a H grade when the graders visited and so they should have been relegated to Division 3 not promoted to Division 1. It will be interesting to see what the FA make of it, not sure how the club has got 40 pages of evidence to show them. As for the clubs having a vote, this was at the instigation of the league Chairman who went against his own grounds committee who had done the gradings, i have been told that a number of the league committee are asking for him to stand down from his postition of Chairman and possibly all of his positions. As they say watch this space !

The world of football in Sussex. It's nearly as bad as the Hellenic League with clubs openly having a go at the way the league's run. It seems certain leagues don't communicate with their clubs very well.
Makes me glad we're in the CCL.

Can you say what they didn't have done by March 31st?
I know the floodlights were up as I mentioned that on this site on March 26th.

I dont have a list of what was outstanding, however a league official i know said that there was a lack of seating to start with but did not specify any other defects. I am sure it will all come out in the wash in due course, i suspect if the ground was visited now all the work to meet a F or G grade will have been done.

I would still love to know what the 'hoax phonecalls' were all about. It suggests that league officials were involved somehow. The Sussex League is a bit weird but this has to take the biscuit.

From their Twitter account -

"Appeal to the FA will be held at Wembley on June 28th. The proposed league constitution cannot be confirmed until after the appeal"

also

"We are hopeful of a fair hearing and have a 43 page dossier detailing significant unfair treatment."

Perhaps this is one reason the Sussex County League has delayed moving to a First Division of 22 Clubs.
If Dorking Wanderers win their appeal then the Division would have 21 teams.

From previous seasons and other Leagues I can't see how the AGM have to delay confirming the League constitution even if an extra team may be added at a future date.
