Is it to do with the founding of any specific club?

If yes, then I'll go for the drunks that set-up Borussia Dortmund

If no, I'll keep my powder dry for the moment........

1909-11?

Founding of St. Pauli 1910?

Yes, 1909-11.

But not the founding of FC St. Pauli.

GOAL!!

It's the founding of BVB 09 at the pub Zum Wildschütz in 1909. Founded in protest against Father Hubert Dewald trying to curtail the playing of football in the Trinity Youth Club and the use of Zum Wildschütz for gatherings, a number of members held a meeting at Zum Wildschütz. When Father Dewald was told about the meeting he tried to gain entry to Zum Wildschütz to break up the meeting but was physically restrained from doing so. The name of the club "Borussia" is believed to come from the Borussia brewery whose beers were sold at Zum Wildschütz.

The story is chronicled in some detail at Borussia's German wiki page: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borussia_Dortmund

Well done Paddy and over to you.
