West Juniors Super League Division One Cumbernauld United v Shotts Bon Accord, 1-3, H.T. 0-0, Att c.200, Admission £5, No Programmes at Guy's Meadow At last things are drawing to a conclusion in this division as Shotts catch up on their outstanding fixtures. This win means they have ensured automatic promotion (along with Glenafton), so next week's Play Off beween Pollok and Renfrew can go ahead. Shotts need five points from their 3 remaining games to overhaul Glenafton for the League Flag. Cumbernauld had been idle for a few weeks awaiting this fixture but there was no rustiness in their first half performance. They were unlucky not to be ahead in the first half hour, hitting the post on one occasion and having several other good chances. Towards half time Shotts came more into the game and made a few decent chances of their own. However, it was Cumbernauld who took the lead early in the second half and they seemed on course for a win. But this Shotts side have a lot of fight about them and, just as they did on Monday, they came from behind to win the game. They scored three times and as Cumbernauld's discipline imploded they found themselves down to nine men. More celebrations for Shotts at the end as their annus mirabilis continues. Guy's Meadow is a great venue, although spectators are really restricted to two sides only. The 'Hat Trick' Bar is a full-blown pub within the ground with great wall displays of the team history. Good crowd through from Shotts. Only downside last night was the midgie count - I don't think I've ever come across so many at a game, and that's saying something. You couldn't open your mouth without swallowing them and many of the crowd were reduced to improvised protection with scarves tied around their heads, flailing arms etc.
