Its that time of the year again Frown

At least this year we've got the world cup to help break the monotony.

For me and many like me the world cup makes things even worseFrown

There's no pleasing some. Tongue

What's the big deal? Football for the next two Saturdays, then a couple of RL Championship weekends, the Speedway GP in Cardiff and hey presto - back into a new season without the need to waste any time or money on "friendly" rubbish. And a World Cup to be watched in the meantime..........doesn't get much better than this Wink

Indeed, my wife's already moaning that it's "football all year round now".............I wouldn't even attempt to explain to her the difference between football and rugbySly

The only downside to June is that as June 21st marks the year's longest day in daylight terms, then each day afterwards sees the dark nights lengthening. Unsure

In the same way, in the depths of winter the arrival of December 21st signals the start of more daylight and heading on the way towards spring. Cool

Apart from the above, June's great, and this year we have the bonus of being able to cheer on Ingerland with no illusions about them doing any better than maybe, just possibly sneaking out of the group into the knock out stage.

I have just enjoyed the Giro d'Italia. The Criterium du Dauphine starts next weekend, and then its the Tour de France and after a brief gap the Vuelta d'Espana, the Vatterfall, the Tour of Poland, the World Championships and blow me down the Biathlon season starts.

I assume you mean the bit about watching soaps. I can understand why people wouldn't want to admit to that. Tongue

Christ!

I can tolerate Corrie; no one in our house watches the sheep-related one and if I was trapped in a room showing Eastenders, the telly would get booted out the window; shower of horrible characters all competing to be the most horrible - a programme utterly without redemption.

I suspect you're very much in a minority preferring that "diet" of telly to the World Cup, KK

That's dangerously close to being a fan Paddy. Tongue

Luckily for me the missus hates soaps as much as I do and if daughter number 3 puts one on I don my headphones and play music loud enough to blot out the nightmare.

As a regular setter of pub quizzes, to keep all parties interested and for the sake of fairness, I do include the odd Corrie-related question. It's by far the most popular of them in these parts, particularly since the demise of Crossroads. And Compact of course........Tongue

Re: [UKPunk] June [In reply to] Can't Post or

Talking of TV and the programmes that are on it I cancelled by Sky subscription completely yesterday. I found that for 50 a month for 3 months rising to 56 after that BT now do a package of superfast broadband, phone line rental, free anytime calls to landlines plus 0345, etc, reduced rate mobile calls, an app to use BT through your mobile to make calls, free BT sport, a Youview Box and bolt on of 20 extra HD channels - one's I actually watch and a one off 50 Sainsbury's card and they even waived some of the installation costs. As I said to the Sky bloke there is enough rubbish on TV as it is but you now have 100's of channels pumping it out (and endlessly repeating it) and sometimes there is still nothing to watch. SKY's base pack with HD I think is now 33, BT's is 12.
