It's not a Network Rail card, it's a PTS Card - I think it stands for Personal Track Safety card you need to work on or around railways.

Many operational grades employed by Train Operating Companies also need Personal Track Safety cards, notably Drivers and Guards/Senior Conductors/Train Managers or whatever other fancy title they are called.

On a serious note, many of my mates run their own business and judging by their lifestyle, property etc and
months away in Thailand, I'd imagine most would be on around that mark...

Well OK, second oldest.

The oldest profession is actually flint knapping, and it doesn't pay especially well.

Garages are up there as well. Labour being charged at 80 an hour is common. Some of the more upmarket dealers are probably charging twice that. I don't know how they get away with it as you know the people doing the work aren't getting paid anywhere near that.

Used to have a card until they decided we didn't need to go on the track.

From what I've seen these days you don't need to know much about railway operations to have one. Crazy
One contractor formerly based in Wales used to turn up round these parts and didn't even know which track was towards London! Pirate
