What NEWS ? lol
The Malaysian authorities don't seem to know arse from elbow.
The Brits , Americans and Russians would all have had a satelite on it within hours of going missing , I despair that we will never know what happened.

Well if the Sun says that then it's bound to be true thenCrazy. What's noticeable is that The Malaysian And Chinese authorities don't appear to be saying too much

Im kind of into the Tom Clancy theory which is its been hijacked and flow 5 hours away, the purpose of a hijacking is to gain maximum attention and publicity. By having a black out on the actual existence of the plane by the authorities means that the hijackers have been denied their victory.

The problem with that theory is that 'the authorities' can't do that. The website flightradar24.com tracks planes through a system called ADS-B via a network of receivers set up around the world by volunteer planeheads (if that's a word). It's said the signals from the plane must have been switched off manually in the cockpit which, apparently, isn't easy and can only be done by someone with the correct training, so it disappeared from the flightradar website. The authorities couldn't have done this from the ground.
You can see the last movements of the plane taken from the website here http://youtu.be/XnfXwyh-8KY

I'ii start the rumour that a well known national daily will claim that the plane has landed near to the red London bus that's on the moon.

There's a bit more information on this mornings news but it seems the more detail that comes out the more confusing it gets.

Surely it has to be found sooner or later with so many people looking for it.

Just feel for the relatives of those on board, at least if the worst is confirmed then they get some sort of closure.

Re: [garethwrexy] missing plane [In reply to] Can't Post or

There was a big story in one of the tabloids today, claiming that the alleged hijackers had copied the idea from a Tintin book ('Flight 714 to Sydney', published early 1970's) which, funnily enough, was what I had been thinking of a few days earlier. I'm sure millions of other people who had, like myself, read that book when they were young had the same idea too. Of course, the newspaper concerned didn't have any actual evidence to prove that the plane is currently on a small tropical island somewhere, as happens in the book.
Incidentally, anyone who has read the book will know that the ending sends up Erich van Daniken's 'Chariots of the Gods'.
Rest in peace, Georges Remi.

Re: [non-league fan] missing plane [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

A scary thing that's come out of this is the existence of an app called PlaneSploit which can theoretically take control of an aircraft from an Android phone. It's almost certainly not responsible for this case but let's just hope the system manufacturers can stop it or similar things working in the future. At the moment it can only override a plane's autopilot system so it's useless if that's switched off but who knows what could happen with the technology in a few years?

This is from April 2013 when the app was announced to the world - http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/...-hack_n_3063587.html

They could track it down very quickly if they let slip to the South African police that there were lots of expensive watches on board.

I think we are being told a lot of lies by the Authorities who either know 1) A lot more or 2) A lot less (delete as applicable) than we are led to believe.

The most striking thing about it is the similarity to the set up to the series "Lost", if you watched it you will be struck particularly by the scenes of grieving / hoping relatives.

But in Tom Clancy books, (often sold in airport lounges funnily enough) 'the Authorities' can do whatever the hell they God dam like!

Re: [Mega Hot tea] missing plane [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

I don't know anything about Mr. Clancy and his books but according to the conspiracy theorists 'they' know and control everything.
According to everyone else who takes an interest 'they' are gathering so much data that, even with high tech computers filtering out the chaff, there's still a lot left that humans have to sift through and 'they' aren't competent enough to do that effectively.
But then the conspiracy theorists say that's what 'they' want us to think but really they do know everything and anything that does slip through is allowed through on purpose.
But then the non-conspiracy theorists also say that organisations like the NSA will admit to being overwhelmed, even if they're not, so that they can get their budget increased.

I have no idea how that looks written down but it all makes sense in my head! Basically I'm of the opinion that the authorities are often found seriously lacking purely down to incompetence.

Anyway, let's hope this news from Australia leads to the plane being found, mainly for the poor relatives but also to stop both the sane and the insane theories that are cropping up around the world.

Nothing found as yet it seems and it must be a logistical nightmare trying to search such a remote area fours hours flying time from Perth which means planes can only stay in the area searching for about two hours before they have to return to Perth.

Re: [Eastbourne] missing plane [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

It has now seemingly been confirmed that the plane crashed into the ocean although I can understand relatives being reluctant to accept that until some wreckage has been found.

Various theories abound with sabotage by somebody on the flight deck seemingly the most likely, but does anybody really know?

It seems that black box will have to be found however long it takes and hopefully lessons will be learned to make sure something like this never happens again. Better tracking systems are apparently readily available and it does seem inconceivable in this day and age that a plane can just disappear without trace.

I don't think there's much of an 'if' involved now Gareth. One of the things people don't appreciate is how deep the ocean floor is. The average depth of the ocean is 2.65 miles. The pressures involved on the ocean floor are such that those trapped on board the plane, even if they survived the crash into the ocean, would never survive.

I don't suppose we'll ever know what happen to the plane and those on board.

New data has shown they've been looking in the wrong area and the search has moved some 680 miles to the north.
