Some of my favourite comedies and in no order:

Still Game

Did Still Game actually make it south of the border? Good choice. It would have been my first choice too, followed by another Scottish classic - The High Life, with the wonderful Alan Cumming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLU2oL1pZ3w

Anyone for Up Pompeii?..... Frankie Howard's classic prologues, still make me smile. Wink

Still Game and the High Life ring no bells in Sarf London. ITV or BBC shows?

Just viewed snippets of Scones on YouTube, seems like a Caledonian version of Last of the Summer Wine. Which was another show that passed me by.

I can think of several I used to enjoy that haven't even been mentioned.
My favourite that I bought recently was WATCHING, Emma Wray, Paul Bown, Liza Tarbuck. Ran for 7 series and was very popular.
Also TIL DEATH US DO PART / IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH was absolutely brilliant!
ON THE BUSES another personal favourite in my DVD collection.
OPEN ALL HOURS certainly a top five comedy! But not the recent remake!
SURGICAL SPIRIT hilarious!
Also used to enjoy NEVER THE TWAIN though not a top ten comedy, BRUSH STROKES, DEAR JOHN, and must not forget the wonderful Patricia Routledge in KEEPING UP APPEARANCES!! Laugh

Stuff on TV nowadays is absolute rubbish compared to this.Unimpressed

Surely Spaced deserves a mention!
Probably more of a sitcom style of show but very funny and very enjoyable.

Sounds right was RIchard Stilgoe just a part of the show?

What I can't believe are missing from the list would include:

Rising Damp, Father Ted, Knowing Me Knowing You/I'm Alan Partridge, The Thick Of It, The Young Ones, Open All Hours, One Foot In The Grave, Rab C Nesbitt, The Fast Show, Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads, Not The Nine O'clock News, Goodness Gracious Me, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, and Hi-De-Hi (an acquired taste that last one, maybe!)

So that's 14 missing from the top 10? Smile

Which sort of sums up these lists for me. If I managed to compile one of these "top tens", five minutes later I'll realise I've forgotten something that deserves to be on the list.

Ha ha, you are right! I now need to add 15 Storeys High, Peep Show and Fist Of Fun. Smile

The running gag about Owain Hughes was comedy genius. And as for the camping trip...... Sometimes the things that aren't said and are filled in by the audience's imagination are the things that make a script brilliant.
