Borrowash Victoria/Graham St Prims Can't Post or Reply Privately

http://news.bbc.co.uk/..._9149000/9149426.stm

Whilst the BBC writer wants shooting for some of those captions, "Chelsea's 'vast' Stamford Bridge" "Molyneux" and mistaking a local swimming baths for the 47,000 capacity Stadium of Light, it looks an interesting exhibition, and with a week off then what better to combine it with a day out in Derby and a match later on?

The question I have though, with not much else on in the area, the two best games of the week look to be in the Derbyshire Snr. Cup with Graham Street Prims at home on Tuesday and Borrowash on Wednesday, however looking on the aerial view below, which grounds belongs to who? Am I right in assuming Victoria's ground is the more developed one to the right?

One thing that does make me wonder though, is there any 'history' between the two clubs? Reading GSP's website it seems they originated from the other side of Derby, so why build a new ground there as opposed to just groundshare when so far from where they came from? (not knocking a club wanting their own ground, just seems odd to do it so close to an existing one).

Graham Street Prims on the left, Borrowash on the right.

G.S.P v Gamesley should be a very decent game, tempted to go as I cover Gamesley on my local radio slot. They won 6-1 at the weekend as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Derbyshire Cup upset at all.

Thanks Tom, although I was thinking of choosing the other actually!

For Graham St Prims, love the name, but the ground itself looks a little bit like one of those to complete the league so to speak.

Borrowash is the better ground. I haven't been, but it has a 300 seater stand and GSP is basic, limited cover from what I've heard.

The exhibition's photographer Chris Olley, use to be in the
semi-legendary Nottingham rock band,Six.by Seven.
They did 5 John Peel sessions, appeared on Later with Jools Holland,
recorded 7 studio albums and 17 singles. One single reached 48 on
the BBC Chart. And he now tours and records as a solo artist.

The reason behind the Graham Street Prims and their move to the
Asterdale sports ground is here.

I think I will be at the GSP game on Tuesday.

I can remember them playing at the 'Ramarena' on Raynesway many years ago - the Derby County training round.

Seen Prims (Derby + Graham St ) at Ascot Drive , Moor Lane , Raynesway, London Rd P F and Asterdale.
Played mainly on the outer pitches at Moor Lane but played Vase game v Pickering 09/09/89 at main stadium.
And poss only one season at a dreadful piece of green (London Rd)

I've always had an interest in Graham Street Prims' history, due to their nomadic nature in both the Leagues they have played in, and the home venues used - so, recently been looking through my old Non Lge Directories (again!) to see where they played...

Given our health record Hod I reckon we should start smoking Crazy - Always remember when I had my 1st Heart attack in 1995 the first question I got asked by the nurse was how many cigarettes I smoked a day? I said None I had never smoked to which she said you must do! It was as if it was their stock question on Heart Attacks and she never seemed prepared for people telling her they didn`t smoke.

I picked up a couple of old Prims programmes at the weekend... https://twitter.com/...s/805736464646541316
and 87-88 was spent at Derby County's Training Ground on Raynesway, so it looks like they had four seasons at The Ramarena.

As for the name change... "it was thought that we could be more readily identified with the City of Derby, and because Graham Street no longer exists, it was a logical move to make."
