Looks like New York will apply to join RL Championship in 2019. The owners have secured use of Red Bull Arena in New York and have a budget of $10 million. Although the red Bull has a capacity of 25000 the RL club owners expect a fan base of around 10000. Why are New York targeting the RL Championship and not League 1, this could be the rumoured restructuring of RL in the UK. Maybe the ease of which Toronto went through League 1 means the RL would prefer new teams with lots of financial backing to start higher.

New York probably won't be the last new team from North America so this is a general thread to cover future developments. A second Canadian club is expected to be launched in a few months with a possible further 5 or so clubs in the coming years leading up to the 2025 RLWC.

Where will it all end? Do these people chucking cash around not realise there is a salary cap in SL and even in three years time will only be £2.1 million.

There is another concern which may pr may not have entered the heads of the men that run the RFL. If the number of clubs does increase to around 8, only 5 or 6 are being talked about at the moment, then a North American League could be established and all these new teams could leave the UK to play in North America which would create chaos with the leagues in the UK.

A USARL division is currently in place. Rugby League has been in turmoil the last 5 years but now seems to have settled down.

Only know as I visited Jacksonville Armada proper shaped ball team last weekwho share their stadium with the "Axemen" RLFC.

I was looking at doing a Chicago Stockyarders game over the weekend but apart from venues used could find very little other info on them.

Dont forget your Beer Dock Tee Shirt when at Crewe2. Nearer station, 10 mins.

Then you'll need something from new Crewe Spoons.

Villeneuve hope to follow Catalans Dragons and Toulouse Olympique into the RFL competition. The Leopards (of Aquitaine) aim to secure a League One place for the 2020 season. There's talk of them playing home matches in (much larger) Agen.

Racing Club Albi XIII and Sporting Olympique Avignon have also expressed interest in joining the RFL comp.

Villeneuve-sur-Lot is Troon's twin town. It's a pleasant enough town in a very attractive area.

Seems to me we'd be heading down an American Style conference system with winners of the French and American conferences joining the English playoff series. Not sure you'd want all that travelling around in the regular season

If that was the case then include NRL winners and call it a World Club Championship. Overloading the RFL with American, Canadian and French teams sounds great for the TV but it would be very costly and could financially ruin some SL clubs.

New York confirms its application to join the RFL (for 2019) and reveals plans to spend £10m in each of its first three years. The franchise is looking at three stadia. Its preferred option is the Red Bull Arena, the New Jersey home of New York Red Bulls. One of the investors is said to be a "London-based property magnate". A proposed squad of 30 players, to be coached by Australians, will contain "at least five Americans".
