Just occurred to me on reading the Ian Brady thread on General Chat at bottom that despite there being 10 replies it says no replies on entering thread.
Is this common and I've not been alert to notice before ?
I have impeccable credentials , sorry to be so curt but I have had my wrist slapped.

There were a bunch of changes made to the site last night to speed it up and optimise performance.
Most of these were database changes and tuning. May have caused a few temporary minor problems but if you notice anything permanent please do let me know. I'm aware that some characters are not displaying correctly.

Two issues seem to have started recurring over the last 24-48 hours - not sure if it's just me so am posting it here to find out!
1) the same issue as reported in this thread seems to be happening with some posts in the general discussion section. For example, when you're looking at the top page of the forum you'll see the latest post in general discussion is by poster X at, say, 2pm. But when you go into the general discussion section, this post doesn't show. But it does exist - the only way to get to it is to access it directly from the top page. Noticed it a few times today.
2) the same issue as reported in the locked "Access Problems" thread in this section. Here's what I posted in there, and the same has been happening a lot over the last couple of days, not just at its usual 1am slot!
"When it's playing up, as it is right now, clicking on a thread or a post sometimes takes you to a white screen. You then have to click back to your previous screen, which does reload ok (though it's probably not been refreshed). It's pot luck then whether you get another white screen when clicking on an other post or thread.
If you don't get the white screen when clicking on a thread or post, the page will load slowly.
Seems to now come and go in phases."

Yes Paul the 01-00 access to site is still a problem but now many times throughout the day.
Really got worse the last week.
Something's wrong somewhere.

I have been dropping out of the site regularly between 21.00 and 23.00.
It was impossible to reply to the is thread last night and inputting results was a challenge.
I don't usually complain and just get on with the job but in this case I think it right that it is reported in the strongest terms.
End of rant.

... not sure if this is related to the issues mentioned a post or two above this ..... but the WAYG Thread for "Nov 27th - Dec 1st" appears on the Forum Listing as only having had 2 replies and the 'most recent post' column displays Nov 9th.
Monday 27th November - Friday 1st December 2017 bagman 1012 2 Nov 9, 2017, 9:50 AM (kirby knitters) 
- yet there have been several subsequent posts made - e.g. incl. mine from about 10' ago (as I write = Nov 25th 23:20 ish)
I only mention it, as it now sits near the bottom of the WAYG Forum page one when I'd expect it to be near the top - I nearly missed it altogether and was close to starting a completely new thread.
Oddly enough my name/post was appearing as the latest post made on the 'top level' Forum Listing against 'Where Are You Going'.

Maybe just a temporary 'glitch' but it does hint that there's possibly something wrong with the Forum/Thread display sequences and if it gets worse could lead to inadvertent duplication of threads?
First time I've noticed this happening.....

Looked this morning on IE and only 3 posts. Looked on Firefox it said 3 but there was 20 listed. Now 21 listed on IE but says only 4. Weird !

Just happened with a post I made, which happened to coincide with the usual brief nightly outage around 1.15am. It did not show as the latest post on the main menu for that particular section of the forum but did appear within the discussion thread. Re-posted it after that brief outage and all is hunky-dory again.
