The champions of Montgomeryshire League Division 1 could not be promoted anyway. As an English club in the Wales FA pyramid system, Bishops Castle are not eligible to play above tier 5. Four Crosses came second, and Waterloo Rovers fourth. Guilsfield Reserves were third, and again not eligible for promotion above that tier.

The league will now be known as the 'MMP with Norman R Lloyd Mid Wales League' following a new sponsorship deal.

Ironically the league's new sponsors have an office in Bishops Castle.

Indeed they do, and I guess the " Morris, Marshall & Poole with Norman R.Lloyd Mid Wales League" would have been a bit of a mouthful !

Knighton Town resigned from the league a couple of weeks ago, and now it has been announced that Brecon Northcote have also dropped out. It is thought that both teams will maintain a team in the Mid Wales (South) League, which will now be their first teams.

Well they did keep a clean sheet for 38 minutes against Caersws last week but then obviously the last 52 minutes went a bit awry (9-0)

The issue this season with Brecon Northcote appears to be, unsurprisingly, the unwillingness of players to commit to the long distances they have to travel in the Mid Wales League.

Surely it would be better if they were counted as part of south Wales. Their neighbours Brecon Corries play less than a quarter of a mile away and are in the South Wales Alliance, meaning shorter distances on faster roads. Brecon is a bit of a'miles from anywhere' place, but the current situation makes no sense.

Hopefully the forthcoming restructuring of the lower tiers by the FAW will make life easier for clubs like Northcote.
