It looks from the draw on the play-cricket website as if the first team drawn out of the hat in each group gets to host that area's finals day. Peterborough Town offers an opt out from that day's hop for those who have visited both Wellingborough's and only need Stilton.

Re: [PaulC] CRICKET - ECB National Club Twenty20 [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

The Group 2 finals day at Peterborough Town was called off after a deluge on Saturday afternoon, presumably the same one that got many of us soaked at Sutton Bridge, left the pitch unplayable and has been rearranged for Sunday 5th August. Will be surprised if any of the groups were played today given the rain sweeping across the whole country so expect all of the matches to be played next Sunday, which may mean next week's National Club Championship quarter finals involving Ormskirk (at Richmondshire) and Roffey (at Brentwood) being put back further.

After going through the social media feeds of each host club, or one of the competing clubs, it would appear none of the ties beat the weather today and have all been rescheduled for next Sunday. Horwich RMI say they have withdrawn from the competition at the last 32 stage so presumably opponents Moorside will get a bye to the final at Bradshaw, where they will meet Ormskirk or Chorley. Horsham's ground has two full size pitches alongside each other so presumably both will be used for the Group 4 semi-finals which are listed to start at 1200 with the main pitch staging the final at 1530.

Lostock have taken Horwich RMI's place. They lost to them in the Bolton League final two weeks ago but reinstated as RMI are prioritising something called the Hamer Cup next Sunday over the National Club T20.

All finals scheduled to start at 1630 except at Horsham (1530).

Planning a double with the first semi-final at Hanging Heaton followed by the final at Denby, should arrive in time to see the conclusion of the second semi there. Similar doubles possible, either way round, with Bradshaw and Flixton or Peterborough Town and Potters Bar.

Excellent info mate, but no double for me, just a nice relaxing day at Potters Bar.

The finals went like this:

Group 1: Potters Bar (Hertfordshire) 135 (18.2) Swardeston (East Anglia) 139-5 (18.1)
Group 2:
Group 3: Penzance (Cornwall) 168-8 (20) Bristol (West of England) 89 (16.3)
Group 4: Alton (Southern) 108-8 (20) Roffey (Sussex) 109-1 (?)
Group 5: Checkley (North Staffs South Cheshire) 107-4 (20) Nantwich (Cheshire) 113-4 (14.1)
Group 6: Lostock (Bolton) 139-9 (20) Ormskirk (Liverpool and District) 143-3 (12.1)
Group 7: Denby (Derbyshire) 143-7 (20) Bracebridge Heath (Lincolnshire) 144-3 (18.4)
Group 8: Hanging Heaton (Bradford) 217-4 (20) South Northumberland 199 (18.3)

Oddly, neither of the teams in the Group 2 final has been on Twitter boasting about winning it. It was between Peterborough Town (Northamptonshire) and Slough (Home Counties).

I could only make the first game where Peterborough slaughtered Kibworth but also thought it was strange the 2 winning teams never posted all day or all 4 teams didnít mention there was a game on until the first ball was bowled

As an aside, there was an interesting finish tothe Hamer Cup semi-final (the Bolton League's premier knockout cup).

Horwich RMI scored 148 all out and Kearsley had replied with 143/6 when the umpires called a halt and ordered the teams off because they believed the wicket had become too dangerous. Rather than having the match abandoned RMI conceded.

By doing so they probably saved the league and its umpires from a lot of embarrassment.

National Quarter-Finals - Sunday 12th August (1300 unless stated):

Swardeston v Slough
Penzance v Roffey (TBC)
Nantwich v Ormskirk (1200)
Bracebridge Heath v Hanging Heaton

This presumably means Roffey's National Club Championship Quarter-Final at Brentwood, scheduled for the same date, being put back further along with Ormskirk's tie at Richmondshire in the same competition.

Allow me to add a little footnote to that. There was an earlier national club T20 competition organised by Russell Grant and his Federation of Middlesex Sports, which took place twice.

2005 - Welwyn Garden City CC (Hertfordshire)
2006 - Gore Court CC (Kent)

The 2006 event was actually won on the field by Burnham CC (Berkshire), but they were then disqualified for multiple ineligible players and the title was awarded to the runners up.

Burnham threatened legal action and tried to play a race card (their team was entirely Asian), which is a large part of the reason that Russell Grant did not organise a competition in 2007. The ECB then picked up the same idea the following year.

County Championship Division 2 Warwickshire 380 v Kent 167 and 179 Warwickshire won by an innings and 34 runs and win the title. Scorecard free. Admission free - courtesy of lordcleeoftilehill.

Well I finally got to use one of the two free entry vouchers which lordcleeoftilehill had given me at the start of the season at what turned out to be the last opportunity. On a glorious autumn day Warwickshire clinched the title with a comprehensive victory thanks to some splendid seam bowling by Keith Barker and Chris Wright as well as the new England fast bowling hope Olly Stone. Curiously Barker and Wright are both leaving, presumably as they have been offered longer contacts/better pay at their new counties. Barker's departure was not revealed till lunchtime by which time he had limped away from proceedings for the final time as a Warwickshire player with a hamstring strain. There is no need to describe Edgbaston here, never one of my favourite grounds, it is more of a stadium than a cricket ground, but the new facilities impress me every time I attend, which admittedly is barely once a season. Warwickshire have certainly reduced the average age of their team massively (I seem to remember reading somewhere last season after one of many championship defeats that every player was over 30) and with Wright and Barker departing and Jonathan Trott retiring it is set to drop even more next season. A superb run out by Olly Stone brought matters to an abrupt conclusion and enabled us to visit The Hornet in Ward End which imho must be one of the worst pubs ever to get into the GBG.
Apologies - have just realised that I have put this in the wrong thread. Admin please feel free to move the post.
