I don't think many people were aware. It won several Razzie awards, one of them for being the worst film of 2006. I also had a quick Google, it turns out Frank LaBoeuf was in The Theory of Everything, and "One Size" Fitz Hall was in The Fifth Element.

Just had a quick scan through my DVD collection out of curiosity, and the only ones that jumped out at me are the several footballers in Escape to Victory, and Sean Bean in The Martian and Patriot Games (Well he did play for Sheffield United didn't he? Wink).

In The Arsenal Stadium Mystery, released in 1939, several Arsenal players and members of staff appeared, such as Cliff Bastin and Eddie Hapgood, although only manager George Allison had a speaking part. Brentford played the opposing team, called the Trojans and footage of the league game between Arsenal v Brentford on 6 May 1939 was used.

Nottingham forest player Garry Birtles doubled for Ian McShane during the 1979 film Yesterday's Hero, in which an alcoholic former football star is determined to make a comeback (No idea where they got that idea from but it is one of the Best ideas for a film during that decade). Footage of the 1979 League Cup final between Nottingham Forest v Southampton is used in the film and which is were Ian McShane's character is played by Garry Birtles. Other players from that match are also seen but not mentioned.

John Motson is also in this film as the TV Interviewer & Commentator.

Eric Cantona and Vinny Jones have been in various films

Don't think there's a film starring both though

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
