Agents fees - 2018~19 Can't Post or Reply Privately

Figures have been released listing the fees paid to football agents by clubs for the year up to 31st January, so covering the past two transfer windows...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47817930

Premier League clubs spent a combined total of over 260million on fees, up +49million on the previous year. Liverpool FC are the highest spenders in the Premier League, spending 43,795,863. Cardiff City are the lowest, spending 2,802,375, which is significatly less than either of already-relegated Huddersfield or Fulham.

Championship clubs spent a combined 50million, up +8million on the previous year.

In League One, too many clubs with a history of cavalier spending seem to appear near the top of the list:
Sunderland spent an astonishing 2,873,033
Charlton Athletic spent 205,095
Portsmouth spent 183,790
Oxford United spent 160,678

More refreshingly, Accrington Stanley showed their characteristic common sense, spending just 4,815. Well done to them.

Money lost to the game making greedy individuals very rich indeed. I remember a story about eight years ago when SAF said one of these people demanded a block of apartments was purchased as part of the deal and all these years later nothing has changed despite these ridiculous figures being released year after year. Threats by managers of having nothing to do them has made no difference because if you want a player that badly then you have no choice.

I have no problem with agents making money, as they do more than a lot of people think - they aren't just there for contracts and transfers, but more of a personal liaison for the players.

However - I do believe that agents should be paid only by the player themselves, unless clubs hire them to recommend players.

Agreed. "Find me a keeper" is a lot different to "here's money for getting your client a job". It would massively drive down agents' cash.
