Brightlingsea Regent Reserves are showing as reprieved even though they've said they're withdrawing their reserves and playing U23 football next season.

Do you have any further information on this? I've not been able to find anything on this. They were trying to avoid finishing in the bottom two.

I can understand this being done as a special "break the normal rules" case, if you look at the projections that were on this site for step 5 https://www.google.com/...eQaXGvEXEUgpHTqPSLls.

Without promoting Northallerton there would be a 20th club in this division so far away from the rest that it would be daft, especially as there are going to be "bigger than normal" promotions in the north next season anyway. Why not start a season earlier for one club for the benefit of all. I'm sure that Knaresborough Town and Bridlington Town are relieved that one of them wasn't transferred across.

It wouldn't have been that much of a difference though. Both Northallerton and Knaresborough are just off the A1 and the extra time involved would be 20 minutes on the motorway.
You can't change the rules after the end of the season - was this a sop to the Northern League after they lost out on the Step 4 Division?

Have they perhaps removed the wrong Reserves team from the division? Because I've just noticed that Braintree Town Reserves aren't listed in the allocations, but I hadn't heard anything about them choosing to take the reserves out of the league.

Had Knaresborough been transferred and not Carlisle, Carlisle could have stayed in nwcln and stone dominoes reprieved allowing both st martins and Oswestry town to be transferred to WMRL division 1 and then that league would have had 20 teams in it. and would be fair on the nwcl reprieves at least.

And we are moved to a league with only 14 teams in it.. Financially that is a disaster and not enough games to keep players interested...

In the Nonleague Paper on page 5(a pure pyramid awaits in 2020), that discussion are ongoing with a view of increasing the Hellenic step 6 leagues up to 16 apiece. So I wonder if they will allow the Hellenic League Div2 clubs up?

The Hellenic League mentions it at the top of the allocations page https://www.hellenicleague.co.uk/club_news/thefa.html

Sorry, some of us work Sunday! Just doing the updates now. I'm also embarrassed to do the allocations for Step's 5 & 6. Step's 1-4 look fine to me. Yes Barking are unfortunate, but I for one am happy to see Cambridge & Histon in the ILN.

Moving Campion rather than Emley to the NWCL sticks out like a sore thumb.

We have four Yorkshire teams in the NWCL, while Skegness Town are in the NCEL.

How can the FA justify relegating Cove and allocating a new club Jersey Bulls in their place. Harworth are hard done by as well. Keeping them up, moving Ollerton to the EMCL where they wanted. Move Ingles alongside Ashby Ivanhoe to the ML1 and move Brocton to the WRCL where there is now room (promote Stafford to the WRCL as well).

A swap appeal between Newark and Shepshed looks possible.

Yet again the FA wet the bed on the Hellenic Step 6 debacle.

Chipping Sodbury aren’t happy about going to the Hellianc.

The price for 2 Devon clubs coming up. It’s going to be fun when teams from the new SWPLS really start coming through for those Bristol based teams at Step 5!

The FA could’ve sorted it out this season & placed the 4 NWCL1N Yorkshire clubs into the NCEL1. Then moved Dronfield, Skegness, Ollerton & Retford into the EMCL. Then Ingles, Barrow, Borrowash & Graham St Prims to the MFL1. Uttoxeter, Rocester, etc. It’s easier to move teams around from the NWCL1N, NWCL1S, MFL1, WMRL Prem, UCL1 & EMCL. Because their are clubs bordering each other in these leagues. Those 4 Yorkshire clubs have all got long away journeys.

I posted this a few weeks back that they were considering, but to my knowledge at the time, no decision had been made.

I expect this will happen next season - when they take away 2 leagues and more clubs move up to step 5. I suspect that's why WMRL has been left short. It does say something about where the other step 6 area to lose a league will be - look at which leagues are left short.

Got to feel for Harworth, but the rules did say d it's up to the FA and theye were at risk in finishing where they did. It also helps demonstrate why there are not more clubs at step 6 in the North - all leagues are full without any reserve sides, whereas most leagues around the SE have vacancies even by incluiding reserve sides. There's several step 7 sides (plus Harworth) who have the facilities and ambition, perhaps more can be promoted to backfill the sides promoted for the extra step 4.

Someone has been paid to do this! Crazy

Jokes aside, Its obviously just my own opinion and an exercise I like doing in my spare time. I can't fault much at 1-5 but Step 6 they've really messed up the opportunity to fill up the leagues.

Personally I would swap Newark with Rugby Town as they were moved from the MFL a year ago.

There is only one reserve side in the South East at step 6.
None in the Southern Counties East. None in the Southern Combination. One in the Combined Counties.

Does anybody know if Staplehurst passed the ground grading? Not very long ago even Peckham were making noises about the possibility of promotion, now the SCE1 shows only 17 teams.

Its clear that they did not pass but as you know both clubs are appealing.
Always worth doing if there are vacancies.
All depends on why they failed.

Said for ages there should be an EMCL Premier Division at Step 5 - instead the East Midlands clubs at Step 5 are spread across three separate competitions - and they're all on the fringes of those divisions.

The odd thing here is that they'd said (maybe on Twitter, can't remember now) that they had passed. It was a few days before I visited them, when I heard an official saying in conversation they'd passed. Though I was slightly surprised that they had passed, from what I saw!

I suppose you have your own definition of what the East Midlands is, but by the official (Standard Region) definition 18 of the 20 UCL Prem clubs for next season are in the East Midlands. PNS and Rugby Town are perhaps 5 miles outside. Division One is also 18 out of 20. How is this not an East Midland league? How are East Midland clubs on it's periphery?
