All windy did was convert the url into a proper link, so I think your criticism is misplaced on this occasion.

However, the article is nonsense.

It's clearly nonsense as the club is named so as to support the legalisation of certainly currently banned herbal products....unless you can think of a more absurd claim to level

There is so much over sensitive rubbish going on at the moment in this country i would not be all that shocked if it was true.

Can someone explain what Buzzfeed is, as having clicked the link, I am none the wiser
Clearly designed for people who like fake news about celebrities but what is the target market
I assume it is all about the number of views and therefore advertising revenue
Glad I had never heard of it before and will not need to look again

Buzzfeed is an American entertainment site which collates content from other places and sticks clickbait and adverts all over it, not really caring about whether the "stories" are true or not.

Think the online Daily Mail, aimed at a younger, mainly American audience.

Never take anything from it at face value.

Interesting as the article link is posted on multiple forums. Clearly trying to generate ad revenue. It claims to have been written by Dionne Oyekele. She certainly doesn't know when to use an apostrophe and when it is a plural. I would have thought a grasp of English at least via a grammar checker would have been the bare minimum for a "budding journalist in London"

True that Buzzfeed isn’t the most reliable of news sources, but worth noting that this story is from Buzzfeed Community, where anyone can submit items.

To quote the site ... “If the post you suggest is good or fun or original or interesting or some glorious combination of those four things, our editors will feature it on the BuzzFeed Community page.”

Accuracy doesn’t seem to be among the criteria they’re looking for.

While the article is amateurish, poorly written and lacking any evidence or references, it does raise a point about the name. A football Club’s name should contain some geographical reference to its location. Hashtag, Pegasus, Concord, Met Police amongst others should be required to append a location to their names.

Apart from the fact that Concord are named after Concord beach on Canvey Island and the Met Police are actually named after the area they serve (The metropolis of London - that is where the Metropolitan bit comes from apparently, I have to also ask why should clubs be named after a location ?

Does it have to be the location of the club? Because quite a few clubs have locations in their titles, but they're not the location of the ground.

I don't think it matters. If you need to find out you can always look it up.

Hashtag had this discussion with the league before they joined. They were told they couldn't have a no geographical name.

They then pointed out that May & Baker, Fire United. Lopes Tavares and White Ensign had no geographical reference in their name.

Equally if you want to go down the route of non geographical named teams you would have to address the following:-

Port Vale (Used to be Burslem Port Vale)
Grimsby Town (Play in Cleethorpes)
Mauritious Sports
Sporting Khalsa
Pegasus Juniors
AFC Wulfrunians
Old Wulfrunians
Sikh Hunters

I think people are worried they may decide to up and move to a different part of the country like some sort of Franchise. The reality of this is that the FA wouldn't allow them to move like this having been burnt by the Wimbledon FC situation.
