Wednesday 21 September 2011, 7:30pm: London Scottish 9-44 London Welsh: British & Irish Cup; att: 853; Entry 10; programme issued.

I was also in attendance.Fully agree with your assessment of the match.I did find the lengthy delays in the second half somewhat disruptive to what otherwise was a fairly fluid game of rugby, but obviously an injured players wellbeing is paramount. Very much a local derby,as Welsh's ground is virtually adjacent to the training pitches. Interesting that the stand is called instead 'The Highlander' & the terracing 'The Clan'.Quite enjoyed the bagpipe player who was situated on the sidelines of the pitch throughout the game & would every now & again give a rendition. The Scotch pies on sale are from Murdoch's & apparently won the award last year for Scotch pie of the year. The only other place in London you can buy these are in Harrods! Pre match drinks for me was in the nearby Shaftesbury Arms a Youngs pub.The Youngs Bitter being 1.80 a pint to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the Youngs brewery.Apparently many Youngs pubs are hosting this offer until this Sunday (25th). The Athletics Ground,Richmond is an easy 5 minute walk to/from Richmond station.
