Wessex League Premier Division

Horndean 0(0) Hamworthy United 1(1)

Red Shirts & Shorts Yellow & Black Shirts / Yellow Shorts

Attendance 64

Admission £6 Programme Free

Bacon Cheeseburger £3.50 Tea £1

Arrived just after 2 to find there was still a few parking spaces left. Didnít bother with the clubhouse accessible from the car park. Payed my admission and helped myself to a very basic 8 page programme. There appeared to be only four or five so I was pleased Iíd gone straight in. I liked Five Heads Park. Immediately to my left as I entered was the tea bar where I purchased a very acceptable bacon cheeseburger and tea. Next to the tea bar was the committee room / hospitality room. To the right as you enter is a wooden building housing the changing rooms. In front of these is a covered walkway that provides cover for those wishing to stand. Next to this structure, either side of the halfway line is a small stand with four rows of bucket seats with very limited leg room. There is no other furniture but the opposite touchline and the end behind the goal to the right are railed and paved.

The game was a close affair between two good teams well officiated by lady ref Paula Wyatt. The only goal of the game was scored in the 32nd minute by Micky Finch who ran onto a long ball rounded the home keeper and coolly side footed in. Both sides created further chances but the defences were excellent rather than the finishing poor. After the break United lost Brad Gale to a straight red after intervention by one of the linesmen. Those around me werenít sure what offence had been committed but his team mates worked hard to preserve their lead.
