It's the start of another fortnight's holiday in Mid Wales for us. I'll be throwing wife & mother-in-law out of the moving car as we pass our rented cottage and will then be heading off to Shrewsbury Town. Looks like Tywyn Bryncrug on the 20th. & either Hay or Monmouth on the 27th.

ANYWHERE...within reason....after minor surgery forced me to stay indoors yesterday...the thought of watching such wonderful programmes as I endured...Formula 1 Qualifying..Inspector Morse.. even insipid Georgia v Rep of Ireland, followed by the missus watching Eurovision prancing and posing, made me realise one of the reasons why Saturday football is a necessary and enjoyable hobby...hoping that a couple of local taxi firms Yam-Yam Cabs or Quinton Irish Taxis are avaliable for hire next week,..looking forward to it already!!

My missus is at a 40th birthday lunch on Saturday so I have the girls 12 & 8. Both have watched footie before but the youngest doesnt have a 90min attention span for it. Looking for a game which has a playground for the 8yr old. Kelvedon Hatch is a possibility although will be a revisit. Can anyone recommend any other Essex area grounds with play areas?

It depends on how far down the football ladder you're prepared to go. If you're happy to watch a match on a basic park pitch I can recommend Eastcliff v AFC Informa, Amos Cup 1st Round. Both clubs play in the Colchester & East Essex League. The match is being played at the Eastcliff playing fields in Clacton. There is a playground (well) behind one of the goals. Let me know if you want the exact ground location.

I'll definitely boycott it as well - no time for these capitalist t*ssers or that nasty little Wise who indirectly got AFCB relegated last season - so it'll have to be Hammers v Taunton Town in the FAC to see if we can knock a Southern League team out for the second consecutive season.

We'll I'm 'up for the Cup' for the first time this season. This was on my (long-range) list as was Poole vs Martyrs. Both games look rife for upsets - but I think my lad is picking a game nearer home - probably 'North/East' again.

... he likes the look of Aylesbury Vale vs Downton [.. he's a sucker for goals!]

Other choice ties in that area:

.. the 'senior' Aylesbury vs Almonds or
Hitchin vs Concord but I don't much fancy the bottom end of the M1 at the moment and cross country takes forever!Unsure

.. and another ground I had on my 'possibles' last Sat 'til the M40 spoiled it Frown - NPT v Marlow

.... my mate has opted to spend most of his day on a train and is following the Royals to Ipswich - hope our Irish contingent come back from the WC qualifiers undamaged.

Weather permitting it's a doubleheader for me :

FA Premier League Academy - Watford v Fulham at 10.30 at London Colney (I think that Arsenal are also at home there on Saturday morning at 11.0), followed by the FA Cup tie between Ware and Barton Rovers.

Dropping my mate Mike off at Bristol Rovers, so it's going to be something in the Western League with Brislington v Ilfracombe Town being favourite at the moment, Chipping Sodbury in the Gloucestershire County also appeals, we shall see.

I'm reporting for the local press on Saturday and the game I have is Meir KA v Halesowen Town in the FA Cup.

thinking of doing either Venture or Castell Alun in the Welsh Cup (taxi permitting) Has anyone got any definite sensible information regarding possible programmes (for me not compulsory but desireable) and please no replies from anyone remotely called Russell....

Venture did say they would issue again if they got through the prelim round, but had no 100% confirmation as yet.

Castell Alun have issued at least twice in the last decade for Welsh Cup ties, but I'd definately check that one out before travelling.

Plumping for Ryton v. FC Halifax Town, largely because of the prospect of a large crowd [and atmosphere to go with it]. Bit of a novelty seeing a reformed League club taking on minnows only two seasons out of the Northern Alliance. Can't wait to add to the blog [below].

I too was planning on Ryton but given that there seems to have been non-stop rain in Newcastle all week (and tonight too) I will not risk it and will go for a Welsh FA Cup tie in North Wales instead.

if anyone is going to North Wales for a Welsh Cup tie tomorrow, the secretary of Venture have confirmed they are issuing a programme with the game kicking off at 2 PM..couldn`t get any reply from Castell Alun secretary (6 tries is enough)

Had a quick look, and Oxhey Jets v Dulwich Hamlet looks to be the only Cup tie at a step 5 club near me, so I'll head down there.

Yeah - your right there. Don't seem to be many 5/6 clubs left in 'locally' - the only others I've spotted close by - though you may have been - are:-

Chalfont St. P vs Gloucester City
NPT vs Marlow
Calne vs Bashley
Fairford vs Gosport Boro

.. there's also Royston (STEP6) vs Hendon but you're at the mercy of the 'lower M1' which has been a *&% for months. Unsure

... we're off to Aylesbury Vale vs Downton to see if one of the last remaining STEP6 sides can work a miracle - after a quick look I think there's only two others still in: Bridport & Larkhall away @ Clevedon T & Paulton respectively.

- really WOULD be an upset looking at Downton's League form to date.
