I too witnessed said exchange.... The boy Lineker's sardonic grin at Ainslie's retort was a treasure to behold....

Continuing on the theme of quirky responses, Nicky Campbell, on being told that the Spice Girls would be singing live at the closing ceremony... NC's response: "well that's a first".

European football expert Andy Brassell: "For all the happy, smiling faces you get posing behind hastily-printed replica shirts on the deadline, there are always a few to lose out... the latest with the lament of the jilted is Real Betis sporting director Vlada Stosic, who's been talking about his disappointment that Roque Santa Cruz won't be returning to the club, but joining LOCAL RIVALS Malaga instead. Surely Sevilla, no?

On the Football League show last night, they were spouting their rubbish about the Leeds V Blackburn game, when Quota says something about the action from Ewood Park. Listen dimwit, it was a home game for Leeds. So that should have been terrific action from Hillsborough or...............

Surely Sevilla, no? Well, if Real Madrid CF v FC Barcelona is a derby match I suppose all things are possible.

Not exactly mistakes but just tautology of the most blatant kind. Both Tony Incestuous and Stan Collywobbles said on Talk S**t yesterday that a club was in the "relegation drop zone".

Shoddy proof reading from SSN again. In a bio of Peter Ndlovu after his recent car crash, it's stated he joined Coventry in 1991 and stayed at the "Ricoh Arena" until 1997. Funnily enough even the RA's own wiki page states that it didn't open until 2005.

Rob Hawthorne ? i think, on Sky this afternoon. ''next on Super Sunday we head for The Hawthorns, where West Bromwich Albion have won 6 league games this season. Only Manchester United can better that'' .........so Man Utd have won at least 7 games at The Hawthorns this season then ?

Not so much a mistake, but it got right on my wick how the commentators this morning kept going on about the brilliant Chelsea support at the Club World Cup - all 700 fans. Also, I know the CWC isn't as important in Europe as it is in other continents but they might at least give it a chance instead of telling everyone every 5 minutes how little it matters in Europe and, then afterwards, changing their minds and telling everyone how disappointed Chelsea were! Arghhhh!!! I haven't watched a football match with the commentary on for ages and this reminded me exactly why...

The toe-curling Manish on The Football League Show tonight. The post-match interview with Ian Holloway ends with him saying "I'm off now for a Christmas drink with Simon (Grayson)". Cut to Manish alongside the sweating Leroy - "I'm not sure cider is a Christmas drink" Aaaaaaarrrggggggggggh

This time it's the other half of The Football League Show double-act. I give you The Oracle, Leroy Rosenior (244 apps, 73 goals in case you ever forget) who informed us that John Ward had now taken over at Bristol Rovers following Mark McGhee's sacking and was now undefeated in three, although two of those had been postponed. Doing a great job then.

Has Alan Green just described Mansfield's ground as "not what you'd expect from non-league"??? Nice to hear 5Live treating the former league side with all the contempt usually reserved for a true non-league side.
