So, if Bodmin win on the 5th, Ipswich Wanderers will have two days to organise a trip across the whole width of the country.

I assume their players will have to book off Friday 8th as holiday from work to cover this eventuality.

They would probably have to leave Ipswich before 6.00am if they were to travel by coach on the Saturday!

I'm sure the FA wouldn't care about that though!

I don't think the FA care, apparently the Welton vs Bodmin tie won't be moved to a Saturday because it's less than 3 hours travel between the teams.

After 3 attempts the FA also do not seem to want to change the venue and having made 2 trips to Bath to follow Bodmin so far this makes me want to not bother trying again.

Absolute joke at this point in my opinion.

Re: [tango602] F. A. Vase 2015-16 [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

tango,

I spent one season as secretary of Ipswich Wanderers. I certainly don't envy the current secretary (who I know) having to deal with this farce!

I know that the club was really looking forward to a trip to the west country, but they are left with so little timne to organise anything! Personally , I am now hoping for a Welton win. That is not meant as any disrespect to Bodmin, but purely as the only option that Wanderers may be able to cope with at such short notice.

If the FA had any sense they would move the date for the next round to the 16th to give Wanderers any chance of progressing. That certainly won't happen though unless there is a replay with Welton!

The clubs involved in the Vase should not be asked to treat a national competition with disrespect. However, if Bodmin win at Welton, the chances of Ipswich Wanderers being able to field a full strength side are remote!

Are the FA sure that Bodmin can arrive at Welton in three hours? In theory I'm sure that is true, but I doubt it is a probability in pratice!

Ah, I would never have known that and I can easily understand why you don't envy their current secretary having to deal with this.

I can understand why you want Welton to win and don't take any disrespect to it at all with the travel situation.

I think the date for the next round used to be the 16th as I remember us having 4th round games on the 16th before and the tie is still scheduled to have a replay if needed which at the moment. If we end up going through and playing on the 16th though we then have to rearrange our Cornwall Senior Cup game away to Step 7 Mousehole and a league game on top.

Completely agree that clubs involved in the Vase should not be asked or have to treat the competition with disrespect but at the moment it seems to be exactly what the FA are doing.

According to our match programme at home to Helston in the league last Friday the FA have the travel at 2 hours 45 minutes between Bodmin and Welton which is only possible if there are no delays on the roads.

If a club has to leave before 8am, or it's more than five hours travelling time, they're entitled to claim hotel expenses for up to 20 people at a maximum of 50 per person. Mind you, unless there's a big crowd, that may not be entirley covered by the gate money.
A little tip for Wanderers - contact the FA if they haven't done so already and ask for the game to be moved back a week. Don't expect it to just happen. At least that way the FA will have to consider it.

Re: [VP] F. A. Vase 2015-16 [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

I knew they could claim for an overnight stay and so will the club. As a secretary I had to contact the FA to stop clubs claiming an "overnight" in the FA Sunday Cup!

That however, would mean that the players would require to take the Friday 8th as a day's holiday from work & it wouldn't be until the 6th that they would know if that was required.

Of course, I expect that most of the players will already have made provisional arrangements. I also expect that the club would have already had discussions with the two clubs & the FA. I am certainly not going to insult the secretary by sugesting that he doesn't know what he is doing!

The chances are that Wanderers will have a strong side representing them at Welton or Bodmin, but life would have been far easier (and fairer) for them if the FA had allowed a Saturdat date for the re-arrangement. I am not in favour of the game being reversed due to the postponements, but this happens in the Sunday Cup after two attempts.

The overnight facility will not come into the equation if Welton win.
