Yesterday evening at 8.30pm a load of vehicles arrived blocked the road off and up routed the speed camera. It had been in place for over 20 years and had to be filled with film that ran out after a day or two, it's well hidden on a bend on a hill and there have been accidents where cars have put the brakes on and skidded. It must be worth their while having it there as it been replaced by a much larger version in bright yellow. Thankfully I don't sleep in the front of the house these days, when I did it was like having an all night lightening show. The new one is working as it just went off. I know it's there so drive through it at the correct speed but have had people overtake me while I'm driving past it. It's caught bikes in the past and when the council set up a speed awareness camera (the one that "smiles" at you) on the opposite side of the road it registered one vehicle doing 76mph - the road is 30mph limit but the side roads are 20mph. So we presume the police car was part of a traffic scheme, shame they caused so many access problems with it's parking.
