Site Access Issues   or Reply Privately

I am aware that there may be some issues accessing the site at the moment, in fact I was alerted to this by my hosting company a day or so ago who told me it was caused by Amazon bots trawling the site multiple times every minute.
I had thought it had been fixed until I got Site Unavailable messages when trying to connect just now and checked the server which is running at 200% CPU and a load of 14.7 (anything over 2 is not so good).
It's been raised with the hosting company who are very good but just wanted to post this info before problems are reported. Hopefully they will be fixed before you even notice a problem.

Thanks

Hi Steve. Probably a daft question but I can't see how to create a new thread. I wanted to put some stuff up about the Vase but did not want to add to the clutter on John's sticky.

Thanks

Happened to me several times around noon today and just happened again. Seems very unusual to be a glitch if it's not affecting everyone so maybe somebody's gained access to something they shouldn't?

It's likely to be an update to the software of whatever browser you are using. In which case it will no doubt be fixed with an update to the update some time soon.
Personally I haven't been able to replicate this issue despite regularly looging into the forum all day.

Opening a new window and accessing the forum through that rather than persevering with the 'banned' screen has (so far) allowed me back in within seconds.

Nothing has changed here.
So this is due either to an upgrade to the browser software or the operating system which has created a problem with older software such as this forum. Normally this will be noticed by whoever has instigated this upgrade and will be fixed within a few days.
If not then we'll have to look at it again. I have logged on and off all day and not been able to replicate the problem. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, I just haven't seen it

I have worked on the site continually throughout everyday this week from about 10 in the morning and switching off about 10.30 at night with short breaks for meals.

From fixing problems highlighted on the errors thread to creating step 7 & 8 fixtures when I find them.

I have NEVER had any of the problems detailed in all the previous postings, hope they don't start now.

Now back to creating more fixtures!!

It's obviously a software issue.
I have made no changes to the software at all. I will check with the hosting company to see if there have been any changes to the server configuration or upgrades that could have affected the forum.
I have not been able to replicate the problem despite regularly vising the forum every day.

Re: [northstandexile] Site Access Issues [In reply to]   or Reply Privately

There have been no major upgrades to the Server since June apparently so it isn't a server issue.
The hosting company have been made aware of the problem that some users are experiencing. They wrote the forum software so nobody is in a better position to work out the problem. They will be looking in depth at the accounts that have reported a problem on this thread to see what the issue is.

Thanks for your patience.... Steve

This issue is being looked into by the software engineers but so far they have not been able to replicate the problem (neither have I).
The trouble is it could be "a myriad of potential causes" to quote them so it's not an easy fix if the actual cause cannot be identified.
