I agree with this; why can't the FA see this? They really aren't fit for purpose.

The question in the second clause of your first sentence is answered by the second sentence.

I’ve heard from a very reliable source that Ollerton Town have asked for a lateral transfer to the EMCL.
Shirebrook 1st team players have all left the club & they’re playing the Reserve lads. So they may get dragged into a relegation battle.

Whats the story with Shirebrook mate?

Shirebrook had a change in managers that meant their reserves manager was promoted to the first team and he brough the majority of his reserves squad with him.

Our Club, Rushcliffe, played them in a friendly on valentines night. Only our 3rd game as a club and intend on joining Notts Senior League division 2 next season, so I thought it was a bit strange for a club our size to be offered the game but we took it anyway. We got beat 6-0 but the result didn't bother us we just wanted another 90 mins of football under our belt as we were always expected to get beat.

Since the management change I believe they have won 1 and lost 2 , so I don't think they'll be sucked into a relegation battle like someone suggested, at least not this season anyway.

Article in the Nonleague today:
Player Trader to Launch Step 6 Club
Former Leicester City star Julian Joachim's 'Player Trader' organisation could be set to follow in the footsteps of Hashtag United and launch their very own football team at Step 6 for the start of the 2019/20 season. ‘Player Trader` was set up by Joachim, currently playing for Aslockton & Orston in the Nottinghamshire Senior League, as a means by which to recruit footballers to clubs which need new players. `Player Trader` took over the running of UK Football Finder in 2016, and they remain one of very few organisations which directly recruit players for clubs nationally. It is understood that Player Trader FC are considering becoming tenants at The Prince of Wales Stadium in Cheltenham, currently used by Smiths Rugby Club, as current co-tenants the Gloucestershire All Golds Rugby League team have merged with an Oxfordshire-based team and relocated to Bristol for this season. The Stadium boasts one stand as well as an athletics` track but is more than likely to be approved for Uhlsport Hellenic League football. The addition of Player Trader FC will be a welcome boost to the Hellenic League which has struggled to fill their league quotas in recent years, and it is hoped that this summer will see more teams join the league at Step 6.

Not sure how much of that you can believe given that the story about the co-tenants is a load of misinformed bull... The All Golds RL team did leave POW and there was an intention to merge with Oxford and move to Bristol, but it would not take much searching to see that did not happen. The University ceased ownership of the All Golds, who reformed under private ownership at the lowest tier of rugby league in the area, West of England League last season, which they won with a young local side, without losing a game. This season invited to join the brand new Southern Conference League, which is having its press launch today. As I say can't comment on the football story but very inept lazy journalism. That is the rugby league facts, by someone who knows the truth, a director of the rejuvenated All Golds.

Can someone please remind me about the promotion rules from Step 5.

Do clubs still apply for promotion and need to pass ground grading?

Does the Championship club have to go up even if ground not up to scratch or crowds don’t support Step 4?

It’s compulsory promotion for the 14 champions. The clubs I believe will have until 31st March next season to get their grounds up to the D Grading.

I've been thinking the same. It's looking as though Long Eaton, Selston and Carlton will all be step 5, but in different leagues. The NCEL seems to be turning in the old Yorkshire League (or itself post miners' strike). It makes sense to me to have a 'Nottingham' step 5 league.

I can’t see there being a Notts step 5 league. Maybe an East Midlands/Coastal league

I was thinking further east as well all the way to Nottingham-on-Sea , it'd be a similar footprint to the old Midland Counties League covering most of the East Midlands region except Northants?

I’ve always thought North Lincs would stay NCEL. My prediction is that it’ll go from the M1 eastwards & down to Leicester. Then across to the south of the Wash, up to Skeg Vegas, across to Lincoln & then north Notts/Derbys.
The West Midlands would include north Staffs & Shrops. Reducing the NWCL footprint.

Could be little Bitton at Step 4 then.

I’d like it to be Bridgwater Town but not sure they can bridge the gap

If the FA was going to go down this route, then I’d swap Long Eaton Utd & Rugby Town. It’d be nice to see the FA get Quorn, Loughborough Uni & Shepshed Dynamo as well. But I guess there’d be too much shunting around to get all the MFL’s East Midlands clubs into the UCL.

If Westfields don't go up and are moved to the Hellenic, that'd leave a spot for Carlton.

Dare I suggest that Heather St Johns could be promoted to the UCL Premier?

You could promote Heather to the UCL but I doubt many of the players would go with them seeing as they are Birmingham based.

Newark Flowserve aren’t in the top two in the EMCL on a ppg basis & have been replaced by Sherwood. I think if it stays this way then Loughborough Uni & Quorn will go to the UCL.

Bitton do look out of place there.

I see most of the Step 5 champions are either ex-Step 4, or from sizeable towns….Sholing, Chertsey, Chichester, Wantage, Ilkeston, Penistone, Daventry etc etc

Then there’s Bitton.

Would they be better throwing the title….if it looked likely that they might actually get it, rather than take promotion to Step 4?
Would they contemplate that or are Bitton eager to step up?

Despite their good season, they average just 67 at home games so far this season. Arguably clubs of this size should see Step 5 as their limit. But it is of course up to the individual clubs.

Then again, I’m not sure if fellow small village side Willand Rovers will look much better in the Step 4 projections.

With rumours circulating that Notts County could go into administration very soon and with points deduction be relegated for certain.

Does the National League accept clubs in Admin or do they have to start in NL North like Boston did about 15 years ago.

If Notts Co do get put in NL North then it surely would save one of them South East clubs being transferred to NL North.

Corinthian are top of the Southern Counties East League, and they play in the absolute middle of nowhere before an average crowd of 62. They have actually been in the Southern League in the past, but that was in the 80s and twice since then they've dropped out of Saturday football altogether. I know they won't need grading to get promoted, but they would need to do a lot of work to get it within a year.

Fisher are second. They are in a big town (London counts as such!) and are successors to a club that has played at a higher level, but they don't have a proper bar, they don't have a boardroom (not considered all that important in the SCEFL, but it is in the Isthmian), and they only have one toilet. They struggled a bit with Chatham Town's away support; they wouldn't be able to deal with (for instance) Hastings's.

Cray Valley are actually the best team in the division from what I've seen this season, although Vase chasing might do for their chances in the league. They're in London and they play at a current Step 4 ground (Greenwich Borough's), but they are the only team in the division whose attendances are lower than Corinthian's.

I think I'm saying that it would be better for all concerned if Chatham Town won the league. Not that I'm in any way biased ...
