It’s interesting, because what started as the ‘Brexit Election’ is now no longer the most important issue for people - as they see more and more of what a Corbyn Government would do to this country.

What would it do (spare us any Daily Mail headlines)?

I'm Pretty sure you're the only person on this forum that reads the Daily Mail.

Most people think Labour offering freebies reduces their credibility.
Most people know that everything has to be paid for somewhere down the line and free stuff meands higher taxes.

I've changed my mind about free Broadband!

I don't want free stuff.

I want a free country

I want freedom of choice.

I want the money I earn at MY disposal so I can choose to spend it on the things I want.

I want LESS State, not the State controlling EVERYTHING.

Imagine Labour and the SNP controlling your internet .........Big Brother is watching YOU!!!!!

- Scotland never handed over its water to the spivs and wideboys.

Spivs and Wideboys, LOL!

The sort of attitude that proves the left are anti-business and anti-competition .

History has shown us that the State doesn't run utilities well, doesn't invest enough and doesn't innovate.

The State should stick to collecting taxes ,passing pointless legislation and nannying its citizenry....The things it's good at!

Jeremy Corbyn pledged today to allow all family members of all immigrants the unchallangeable right to come to the UK and live.

Can someone put a rough figure on how many people that represents......??

I'm guessing 50,000,000 minimum!

I think he meant the family members of immigrants who are already living in the UK and have become UK citizens. That would be reasonable.

He said it on The Andrew Marr Show yesterday.

As Chris1963 says , it is the family members of immigrants in to the UK. I thought that was a given .

But Corbyn clearly said family members of immigrants should unequivocaly be allowed to settle in the UK as Labour continue their swamping of British culture.

Now then, back to my question........... Can anyone put a potential figure on theese new immigrants.......Is 50,000,000 a fair estimation?
If not, what is?

Meanwhile, in other Brexit related news, Jo Swinson, leader of the Illiberal Undemocrats for those who didn't know, has said that the UK WILLHAVE TO ADOPT THE EURO if we stay in the EU.

Some more hard words for Labour from the renowned polling expert, Sir John Curtice, this morning. This time in regards to Scotland;

“The Conservatives have now recovered north of the border (Scotland) and should have a reasonable chance of hanging onto a lot of the 13 seats they won in 2017.

For Labour, north of the border, doesn’t matter which polling you look at, its relentlessly pessimistic and the SNP will hope to pick up most of the seats lost to Labour in 2017.”

If she said that, then she is at least partially incorrect. The UK will only have to adopt the euro if it leaves the EU and then resumes its membership at a later date. But if Brexit never happens then the UK does not have to adopt the euro, unless it wants to.

I think the Lib Dems would argue that referendums should not be used to decide such issues in future and that a vote in Parliament should be binding.

The last time joining the euro was considered Gordon Brown advised not to and that was it.

Mind you, since we voted to turn our backs on the EU sterling has gone over the cliff edge in comparison to the euro.

The reason why Gordon Brown was advised not to was because the UK had not passed four out of the five economic tests, or something like that. However, such criteria no longer applies to new or returning entrants. Therefore the most likely scenario for the UK adopting the euro is for Brexit to happen, and then the UK rejoining the EU (which would probably be voted for in any new referendum if the economy suffers post-Brexit) which would mean that Brexiteers would look silly.

Sweden joined the EU in 1994 with the obligation of adopting the euro when all necessary conditions are met.

One condition is two years membership of the ERM. It has not joined the ERM and has no intention of doing.

You cannot be forced into joining the euro.

Quite honestly we should be all in or all out.

What we ended up with, was not what we voted to join in the seventies and we’ve just become an annoyance since then.

At least if we come out, we can then, in the future, have a vote to go back in, if that’s the prevailing feeling.

With that, we know what we’re getting.

You probably will regret asking as will the rest of us.

It's a Yatesman utterance, most of us apart from PaulC have learned to mostly ignore them.

In case that's seen as a personal attack on either of them, which I always try to discourage on this forum, it most certainly isn't. I want debate on this thread but I don't want it turned into a Monty Python sketch. You know which one.

I know I should ignore this but seriously... you want to quote articles in the Telegraph which is no more than a daily bulletin from Tory HQ? I thought you would do better than that.

As for Pritti Patel.... the most inappropriate Minister assigned to a portfolio since Chris Grayling. Whatever happened to him? He seems to have been shunted off into a siding and told to keep his mouth shut.

This Country needs immigration. It needs people. There is way more immigration from outside the EU that the Government DOES have control of than from within the EU. The idea that millions of people that have the right to come here will suddenly do so is as ludicrous as me winning the Lottery tomorrow.

We hear these stories about immigrants in lorries and crossing the channel in flip flops and we think the whole world wants to come here. They don't. The vast majority of people who could legally come here wouldn't want to in a million years. I've lived worked and travelled across most of Europe and I can assure you that they don't hold the UK up as some sort of Nirvana. Read the news and you can see why.
