Bury ‘winding up petition’ or Reply Privately

Bury are back in court next week, over a winding up petition & it has been announced by the chairman that the financial situation is a lot worse than was previously thought.

I am a Bury season ticket holder, well I was, I am not renewing until this maniac is ousted.
How he can accuse staff of trying to extort money from the club when they have been working for free, yet he paid £1 for the club and refused £150,000 to buy him out? He is a complete sociopath.

Are they still due back in court on June 19? I understood the adjournment was mainly on the basis that there was a possibility of the club finding a buyer by then but I don't know if or how things have progressed since then (...apart from the manager leaving and the owner upsetting even more people!)

Yes you are right. Court date is still set for June 19th. It was adjourned to allow the owner to sell the club as he said there was interested parties. All we know is that he has turned down one offer.
There is a lot of pressure on him from local press and MP’s but he doesn’t seem to care.
‘Forever Bury’ are a fans group which were formed in the early 2000’s during our financial difficulties back then. They have got a lot of momentum and support from Bury fans and lots of good will donations from other clubs, in particular Plymouth fans which we are ever so grateful for. They are in a good place and plan to make an offer (or have made an offer, will be clearer by tomorrow). The only problem if Forever Bury buy the club, they will put us into administration leading to a 12 point deduction etc. However I would much prefer this than having no club to support!

Frustrating silence in the days leading up to tomorrow's court hearing, though the owner says he is 'hopeful for a positive outcome'. This one's going right to the wire, it seems. They're case no 3 on the High Court's agenda, whose proceedings begin at 10.30am.

Case adjourned for another six weeks. Unclear why, although apparently HMRC did not oppose the adjournment, which suggests possible light at the end of the tunnel.

The club's pre-season preparations should be interesting.

Its scary times for us fans.

In my opinion, a 6 week adjournment is crazy. That will take us to 4/5 days before the first game of the season. Unless we get a new buyer pronto, what manager and player would sign for us knowing that they could then have to find someone else just before the season starts?

Seems to be a lot of Bury players coming down to join Plymouth Argyle with our new manager and Burys old one Ryan Lowe.

I know Argyle badly need a goalkeeper so I’m guessing that’ll be the next Bury loss sadly.

Re: [philglossop] Bury ‘winding up petition’ or Reply Privately

You have signed the best player in League 1 and 2 in Danny Mayor. He is exceptional. Absolutely gutted he has gone, especially when he openly said he wanted to stay! Will Aimson signed for you today. A centre back with a few mistakes, I wasn't too keen on him.
In terms of a goalkeeper, we only had Joe Murphy who is 38. Rumour has it he is off to Shrewsbury Town as back up for them. Our goalkeeping coach Brain Jensen has moved there so would make sense.

A number of players moving down to Plymouth which is a massive culture and geographical change to play under Ryan Lowe shows that he is held in high regard. Moving 6 hours across the country isn't easy.

In regards to our manager, we have announced Truro City gaffer Phil Wilkinson. Truro fans have been very happy to see rid of him.

The whole situation is strange however. Our womens team manager Scott Johnson has now moved to 'general manager' of the club. He used to work for the chairman in an insolvency business.

Mmmm Truro City are the basket case of Cornwall football tbh, with them looking to sort out a Southern League squad from SWPL players. It’s not going to be an easy ride.

I fear for Bury if that’s the sort of manager you’ve inherited.

How are the finances? Have a liking for Bury having lived in the North West

Re: [philglossop] Bury ‘winding up petition’ or Reply Privately

Approx 8 million in debt. Our chairman says he is owed 3.6 million for his services since taking over the club in December for £1! The last chairman way overspent, big wages for some really poor players. Jermaine Beckford was rumoured to be on 7k a week despite not featuring last season due to injury. Many are saying we deserve these issues due to erratic spending. I can see their point but it’s not the fans fault and we are the ones who suffer.

We have now been kicked out of our training ground which is Carrington (Man City’s old training ground they own). This is because it’s been left in a state of disrepair. I was doing some data analyst work for Bury in September last year and Carrington was in excellent condition then so this ‘disrepair’ must’ve come since the new chairman came in. He hasn’t been paying staff so maybe the grounds man etc just gave up which I don’t blame them.

I’ve lumped some money on Argyle getting promoted next season. Apparently you are set to sign Dom Telford from us too. His actual stats from last season aren’t great with only 6 goals in the season however he is technically one of the best strikers I’ve seen in years. He is around 5ft 4 but decent in the air! Finishing is clinical. Always in the game.

It’s quite a crazy time for Bury.
The debt is actually £16,000,000 rather than the 8 I stated above.
No players have been signed with 3 weeks to the start of the season. We played a friendly against Nantwich Town on Saturday and fielded 11 Trialists (3 or 4 were players previously under contract at Bury) and the 11 subs were trialists.
We technically have no player under contract.

Luckily we aren’t in or going to be in administration. The CVA overrides that and now things are in place for the creditors to be paid. This means there is no need for administration.

The point deduction is almost a certainty, whether it will be 12 or 6 we are not sure.

Hate to kick a club that is down but surely further sanctions need levelling at Bury for failing to fulfil this fixture or simply give Dons the 3 points from Saturday's cancellation which is no fault of their own. Still doesn't compensate fans that have booked rail tickets from MK but maybe the FL should help with that one.

With reported debts totaling £4.2m it would absolutely have been the better option. I have no idea of the payment plan but when we're talking that sort of money they will probably be forced down the admin route anyway.

In other words GMP have received a complaint of alleged fraud at Bury FC and they have a duty to investigate it. I'd not read too much into it at this stage, a similar thing happened at the old Hinckley club and after months of collecting statements etc nothing happened.
