Is the town your club is based at twinned with anywhere with a worthwhile side? I guess that would be the first avenue I took if I was a chairman looking to twin my club with someone abroad.

Basildon is twinned with Heiligenhaus in Germany and Meaux in France. There is a club called CS Meaux but I don't know what level they play at. Not sure if Heiligenhaus has a club of its own but it has staged youth football tournaments in the past which Mansfield Town (Mansfield are also twinned with Heiligenhaus) have taken part in.

both towns seem to have clubs but as you say its hardwork trying to work out their placings within their respective pyramids as they their websites are written in their native language, how inconsiderate!!

I know from visiting Crowborough earlier this season they have a twin club in France, though for the life of me I can't remember who.

You may have to write them an email in BLOCK CAPITALS and trebble spacing to help them understand.

However, some of the former players listed here suggest they may not be that shabby an outfit:

Looking at their website with the little French I know and looking around the net I think they play at level 14, maybe lower

Even though je parle Francais seulement un peu, I concur. They are in the second level of the Paris Ile de France Regional League. Levels go 1,2, National, CFA, CFA2 then regionals.

Suggest that you Google the 'Babel Fish' site which will give you a free translation of the French info. This website can also be used to translate into French any email you may wish to send about linking up.

Gillford Park are sort of twinned with Guildford City. There's no particular relationship between Carlisle and Guildford, it's just that our name is so often misspelled as Guildford Park... which, coincidentally, is the name of a Sunday League club which has since started up in Guildford.

You ask us what the aim is? I tell you it is victory. Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival. Either that, or fried onions at the tea bar. Fried onions at reasonable cost, fried onions in spite of all terror, fried onions however long and hard the hot-dogs may be; for without fried onions, there are only boiled ones.

I always thought Mansfield being twinned with Heiligenhaus was unique.
But now i find out they've been cheating on us with, Basildon!!
A tournament with all 3 towns, with venue alternating each year sounds
good.Maybe with the kids, Mansfield have a good youth league set-up,
Mansfield Town CHAD Youth League.

Rolls Royce Leisure FC(Central Midlands Football League) are twinned
with Hucknall Rolls Royce FC(Notts Senior League). To the point that
they share their ground and facilities, and sometimes when the NSL side
haven't got a game their players will often turn out for their CMFL freinds.

I still can't get over Mansfield (unoffically) being twinned with Basildon.

FCUM had quite a bit of help from AFC Wimbledon in the setup days and there have been a few friendlies since. As you might expect, there is a lot of good feeling between the fans.

Not quite twinning but overseas we have played friendlies at the German fan-reformed club Lokomotiv Leipzig and at VfB Marburg, with fans of the former still posting on our forum from time to time. Hopefully we can return the favours some time. Purely on the supporter side, Torino fans adopted our dinghy and Sloop John B song and a group came over to our away game at Boston. We've sent them a shared flag, joined them for their friendly at Fulham last August and about 20 are making the trip over for their game with Chievo next weekend (until Wednesday we had no game then).

Basildon should be twinned with Helman Province United... Tongue

Pre-1970 football programmes wanted. Good prices paid for good condition collections. Have thousands for sale, League and Non League. PM with wants lists or for quotes. Especially required pre-1978 Romford home and aways, plus FA Trophy programmes from any rounds from seasons 69-70 and 70-1.

Certainly not 'twinning' but the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters' Team have made links with other supporters' on their travels, & keep in touch with them. Red Star, from Paris. A few of our fans, besides me, have seen them, & a couple of them have watched us in London. they have a Dulwich Hamlet union jack at their matches!
In Belgium we are friends with the fans of UR Namur, & they have been over to England to watch us too! In July we go back to Helsinki to play HJK supporters' , who we visited last year, so are now friends with them too!

The Borough of Thurrock is twinned with Moenchengladbach. I would love to see Grays Ath twinned with
them. Can we borrow some of the Borussia players please. I know B. Mg are near the bottom of the bundes liga,
but we are near bottom of the BSP so at least the players would feel at home.

CS Meaux is a football club based in Meaux. This season the club was promoted to the Division Supérieure Régionale of the Paris Ile de France League.
The French football pyramid goes

Ligue 1 :
Ligue 2 :
National :
CFA :
CFA2 :

Division d'Honneur (DH)

The "Division d'Honneur" is the top of the 22 "Ligues régionales" (Regional Leagues). In Paris, the DH has 14 clubs en 2008-2009. The champion of Paris goes straight into the CFA2 (Division 5), the second place goes into a playoff eith the second place of another DH league. The 2 or 3 last are relegated.

Division Supérieure Régionale

The "Division Supérieure Régionale" is the lower league of the 22 "Ligues régionales" . These are organised in one or two groups of 10 to 28 clubs.

http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Structure_pyramidale_des_ligues_de_football_en_France

Notable former players include Frank Lebœuf and Joël Cantona.
