That's an interesting link, Lars, and I hadn't realised Hungary were denied an equaliser by a linesman's flag in the 1954 final.

Oh no!!  I've been clicking like mad, telling my Internet/computer to work faster, and sounding like Basil Fawlty when his car didn't start when he was on his way delivering food.
But thanks for telling me the link was interesting.
I hope you're sure the guy wasn't a player, as I've found a lot of referees who was a player before becoming a referee.

No clues from me Lars , but I've seen nothing to suggest that this guy had previously been a player.
