Ticks needing special permission Can't Post or Reply Privately

So far this season, I've attended matches at three locations that have required prior permission and/or formal ID in order to attend:

Benson Lions FC of the North Berkshire League, who play at the RAF Benson millitary helicopter base, require passport ID, then they photograph you and issue a pass.
Worcester College Oxford of the Oxford University JCR/MCR leagues, who play within the college grounds, requires you to book with the porters' lodge in advance (though rushing the doors with a big pile of books under your arm and a mortar board on your head might also work!)
JET FC of the Upper Thames Valley League, the works team for Joint European Torus, play at the UK Atomic Energy Authority site at the Culham Science Centre, near Abingdon. Again, passport and advanced authorisation are needed.

So far this season in WDYG, other people have mentioned Leicestershire Police Constabulary and RAF Lossiemouth. What other grounds could be added to the list?

Last season, I saw the now defunct Easton United play their final match in the Dorset County League, where they clinched the Premier Division title. They played inside Portland Young Offenders Institute. I had to inform the club secretary that I wished to attend, she added my name to a list held by the YOI. We had to meet by Gate 5 at 2.15, where there would be a 5 minute time slot to alow people in, after which the gate would be locked until after the match.

Every game royals26 goes to he needs special permission. Wink

REME Arborfield I believe requires turning up at a defined time with necessary id.

In the Telford Combination there is a team called The Warren, which is made up of inmates of Stoke Heath Prison. Not surprisingly, they play all their matches at home, and I would think that there are some severe restrictions as to who can pop along to the games.

When I went to Woodbridge Athletic who play at Rock Barracks I had to 'sign in' when I visited in 2007/08.

RAF Lossiemouth - in the Scottish North Juniors - I had to ring the home club secretary (who at that time was also a player) and he met me at the security gates so that I was allowed in

At Oxford University's Iffley Road ground you now have to access the ground via reception in the sports hall off of Jackdaw Lane and tell them where you are going, sometimes they wave you through other times they ask for more details.

I saw games at both Channings Wood and Featherstone prisons. In both cases it was necessary to go in (by arrangement) with the opposition and they took mobile phones and cameras off you.

They took my mobile phone from me at the airport when I visited North Korea, returning it when I left the country.
Any other simularities between North Korea and Featherstone Prison?

North Koreans wistfully refer to their prosperous former capital as "Our Seoul".

Featherstone prison is full of them.

From memory, didn't a few from this parish go to a police match last season (Leics or Notts Police?) and need to get their names on the entry list?

On the Ipswich Green-un Website under the club notes for Ipswich Valley Rangers was the following:

'When you visit Rock Barracks you will be required to park your car outside the perimeter gates & walk to the ground on production of some I.D. This instruction is non negotiable with the CO as Rock Barracks are tightening up on their own security following a recent security breach at Colchester Barracks. Apologies to all visitors, teams & officials but IVRFC welcomes you.'

Re: [pinewoodste] Ticks needing special permission [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

Saturday's final match on the NBL hop reminded me of this thread.

The North Berks match Benson Lions v. Grove Rangers was at Watchfield Military Academy, with all hoppers needing their names on the list and passport/ID in order to gain entry (at least one hopper showed commitment to the hobby far beyond the call of duty, only to be escorted from the premised by uniformed military security officers early in the second half! Shocked)

Keeping with the military theme, here is another for the list: Upper Thames Valley League side Dilly United (who I think might be Abingdon Town FC's unofficial Sunday side?) are currently playing at Dalton Barracks, RAF Abingdon, one of the many military airfields in the area, in this case to the north-west of Abingdon. I shall try and watch a match there in the near future.

But this does not present a problem, unless the military shooting is as poor as the home team's

If work isn't too busy on a Wednesday I often pop across the airfield to watch RAF Brize Norton (and reserves) in the RAF London League.
Not sure anybody would be able to request access in for games though.
