UEFA Nonsense Can't Post or Reply Privately

Apparently Manchester City have been fined more (£24,740) for returning late to the field after half time v Sporting CP than FC Porto (£17,700) have for their fans racially abusing Yaya Toure!?!?!

Decide for yourself which is the more serious 'offence' Crazy

Not sure which of these clubs you think are non league Wink, but the nature of the 'offences' are completely different.

The management of Man City can control when the team returns to the pitch after half time.

The management of Porto cannot control what their fans did. After the event, Porto management could ban any fans identified as responsible, but at the time they would have no control over what happened. Their only option at the match would be to appeal for no repeat but they could not actually prevent a repeat happening.

Way to miss the point!

At least UEFA continues to be consistent with their pathetic approach to racism and where it sits in their list of priorities.

"alleged"??? You sound as if you feel sorry for these poor ickle wickle monkey chanters who are being picked on by the nasty old tree-hugging lefties.

It's not about what Lisbon (or the many other clubs on the continent who merely get slapped wrists) should do about these PROVEN racists, it's about what UEFA should do about clubs who fail to control / ban KNOWN racist 'supporters'. Allegedly...

Fact. Singular.

Still, you apologists won't mind about a typo eh? Not if it distracts from the fact that racism blights football in certain countries (and, apparently, certain computer keyboards...).

It would appear so.

BTW I wonder if Andy Mac feels that Tottenham should be fined if a some of their fans (undoubtably a small minority) sing a disgusting song about Arsen Wenger being a paedo?Shocked

As much as I, and the majority of other Spurs fans, detest that song some would argue the same case against Arsenal fans who sing songs about gassing jews.

Both are wrong. Both should be stopped. Neither will be.

Re: [UKPunk] UEFA Nonsense [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

As a Gooner born and bread who has heard "fellow" Gooners hiss in unison on the tube to immitate gas chambers I agree. In my experience all clubs' fans are more or less the same. I am less an Arsenal fan than a decent human being (in my opinion). Thankfully most Arsenal and Spurs fans are too.

As for the fine, it's a tricky one and I tend to agree that City have been fined because there is no good reason they couldn't get onto the field in time. Mind you, I also don't think UEFA are nearly as bothered about racism as they should be. Either that or they are about us up to date with the sums of money in football as that chappy in the Austin Powers film with his demand for "one meeelyon pounds!".

Course some authorties are not so bothered about racism, didn't Sepp Blatter earlier this season make a comment like 'if racism happens on the pitch, it should be dealt with by shaking hands and forgot about afterwards'
