Widnes FC Can't Post or

Just was wondering and in probably has already been discussed on here, but whats happening with Widnes FC, I know they were denied entry into the NWCL so what does that mean for them? are they taking a year out and trying again next year or are they gonna try for a lower league?

Time out.

Update On Widnes FC
Since the AGM last weekend, the League has received a number of enquiries regarding an application from a club known as Widnes FC to join our competition.

In the early part of this year, the League had been approached by representatives of the club, who currently do not play in one of our Step 7 feeder leagues, with a view to making an application, and the matter was referred by the League to the FA.

League Secretary John Deal explained: “We have been made aware that a meeting was held between representatives of Widnes FC and the FA in early June. This meeting highlighted some issues regarding the application, and as a result the club then advised that they would be withdrawing their application to join our League for season 2012-13.

“The club has stated that their intention is to work towards submitting another application to join our League at some point in future”.

Widnes Town are now playing in the West Cheshire League Div 3, and are playing home games at The Stobart Stadium, home of Widnes Vikings RLFC.

Widnes Town FC have nothing to do with Widnes FC. Widnes FC were denied entry into the NWCL. Widnes Town FC play in the West Cheshire League. Widnes Town have backing from the Halton Council and Widnes Vikings. I should know since my family run Widnes Town FC and I play for its feeder club Widnes Dragons FC which is now known as Widnes Vikings FC.

Seems that the Stobart Stadium will be hosting a team after all, with Widnes Dragons AFC (West Cheshire League) becoming (Widnes) Vikings FC. Details here.

I'm getting confused ... so in effect Widnes Dragons (Warrington League Div 3 last season) changed name to Widnes Town and joined the West Cheshire League Div 3, and after just a few games are changing name again, this time to Vikings FC.

Full Time still lists Widnes Town in the West Cheshire League, and Widnes Town reserves in Warrington Lge Div 3.

''Just texted and recieved that 1st team fixtures are at Stobart Stadium. From club sec Bill Morley.''

It was Widnes Town that entered West Cheshire League , not Dragons.
Edit. Was / Is Dragons a nickname ? They are referred to in Matts link by Bill Morley?

Anyway 3 pound to watch West Cheshire D 3 !!

Widnes Vikings FC were paraded in front of the crowd at the RL last Sunday. Must have been about 150 players altogether from adults to 8-9 year olds. Couldn't here what was going on due to crap PA system and being in the midlle of noisy Warrington fans!

Apologies, don't have a clue about that level of football but saw it mentioned on the RL website and remembered the thread on here about Vaughan's proposals.

On another note, does anyone know anything about Leigh Genesis reforming? Heard a few rumours but that's it.

The youth teams have continued playing. An open age side was reformed this season, currently mid-table in Divison One of the South Lancashire Sunday League.

Thanks!

Do you think they'll be applying to go in the North West Counties Division 1 next season?

Wouldn't have thought so. Although I'm obviously biased because of my previous involvement, I'd say all previous avenues were explored when the senior side were last in existence in terms of groundshares etc which would make it pretty unlikely for a return to 'Saturday football'.
