Bandy Can't Post or Reply Privately

Right, scuse me if you've read this in another category - I'm sure I posted it earlier this evening under 'Other Sports' but it's not here now...

Bandy has caught my interest recently and I'm keen on seeing a game sometime in the 2012-13 season. I can't seem to find info on the coming season though, only on the previous season.

Obviously I've been through Wiki and from there I've been to the Elitserien website for the Swedish league but I can't find anything for next season.

Anyone have any suggestions (or anecdotes even)?

Next season's Swedish Elitserien is here: http://www.everysport.com/...err/elitserien/54739.

Many of the Elitserie clubs now play games indoors. I think there's a ruling (or perhaps wish) that all Elitserie games should be played indoor within a few years.

I saw a game at Zinkensdamm (Hammarby v GAIS) in January or February, you can find a report in the Other Sports thread. It's a fast game and it was pretty good fun although a bit difficult to follow the small red ball at times.

I caught my attention that a derby game between Kalix and Karlsborg far north attracted a crowd of more than 3,000 at -30C some years ago.

Have heard that Nottingham Forest were originally formed as a football and bandy club. Is this true?

Smashing! Thanks very much mip.

Shame they're having to move indoors - why is that? I like being able to see the rest of the world when I'm at a sporting event (which is one reason I don't go to the Emirates nearly as much as I went to Highbury).

I suppose it's to avoid the Swedish winter they're moving indoors. The weather can be inclement and playing indoors players and spectators will be sheltered. It'll also be easier to prepare the playing surface. But I fully agree with you that it'll also detract from the spectator experience.

For your upcoming trip to Stockholm, I can second Akkurat and Oliver Twist, they are within staggering distance. On Friday evening Djurgården are at home at Stockholm's Stadion, the 1912 Olympic stadium. If you haven't been, it's a must and can fit in as both culture and history if your missus complains Wink.
