Have you tried black pudding pork pies, superb!
Yesterday I had battered black pudding from my local chippy, a bit heavy going I found!
Both from Sunny Nunny.
Favourite town, well it is like a small town, is Lancaster, also St Ives (Cornwall), Kirkby Lonsdale, Dent, Dartmouth, Pershore and Bridgnorth.
North Berwick near Edinburgh is lush
Keswick, in the Lake District
they would both be on my list and also........ a contiguous neighbour of my home town. Yate ...but a town in it's own right with a medieval market High Street
Chipping Sodbury !

Being an ignorant southerner, I was really surprised to find how lovely the town of Newark-on-Trent is when I visited in August. An impressive ruined castle, a fine town square, some lovely old buildings, lots of civil war history, a healthy number of quality pubs, all on a quiet and agreeable stretch of the River Trent. And all close by to those fine cities of Nottingham and Lincoln.
Other towns that I've been to this year and really liked include...
Whitehaven, with its impressive harbour-walls,
Shifnal in Shropshire, which seems to have many more decent pubs than most towns its size would expect, as well as an impressive railway viaduct bounding right through the middle of the place,
Burton-on-Trent for all the obvious reasons,
and possibly most surprisingly Dover, which (despite its rather messy road system, traffic jams and general scruffiness) seems to have an abundance of personality and character. Everything that so many sanitised identikit town seem to lack.
