Suburban League 2013-14 Can't Post or Reply Privately

Due to losing Supply League status the league has changed format with just one Premier Division and three regional divisions this season.
I think this is the correct constitution - there have been changes at tonight's AGM and all I've got is a photo of the proposed constitution with writing all over it!

Bromley
Carshalton Athletic
Corinthian-Casuals
Hampton & Richmond Borough
Metropolitan Police
Sutton United
Tonbridge Angels
Welling United (Reformed team?)
Woking

North Division

Barton Rovers
Berkhamsted
Chalfont St. Peter
Dunstable Town
Harefield United
Leighton Town
Newport Pagnell Town
Northwood
Royston Town
Southall (from Middlesex County League Senior Reserve Division)
Tring Athletic

Central Division

Ashford Town (Middx)
Camberley Town
Chessington & Hook United
Cobham
Farnham Town (from CCL Reserve Division)
Hanworth Villa
Hartley Wintney
Knaphill (from CCL Reserve Division)
Molesey
North Greenford United
Uxbridge
Walton & Hersham

South Division

Chichester City
Corinthian
Crowborough Athletic
Dorking Wanderers (from Sussex League Reserve Premier Div)
East Grinstead Town
Erith Town (from Kent League Division 1)
Horley Town
Horsham YMCA
Lingfield
Phoenix Sports (from Kent League Division 1)
Redhill
South Park

Leaving the league

Bedfont Sports

At the last reserve fixture at Bedfont Sports they told me they were going to put the reserve team in the Middlesex League. It seems that there will be less travelling.

According to AlanC of this parish, next season's Suburban Premier Division has been set aside for clubs in either the Football Conference or playing at Step 3. If so, it's very unfortunate for Ashford and Royston, who finished in promotion places last season and couldn't go up because their first teams are at Step 4. Does this actually mean a reserve side will be denied promotion to the Premier in future if their first team is below Step 3? Could result in stagnation of the League if that is the case.

reserve league football really shouldn't be about promotion and relegation

To each their own, but the League did have a Premier Division and regional Divisions last season, and it's unfortunate that teams can't get promoted and test themselves against supposedly better opposition if this Step 3 rule is indeed set in stone.

'Pin out of the grenade' time, but I'd rather see reserve teams in reserve divisions than have more and more of them creeping into senior leagues like the Hellenic and the Spartan South Midlands, possibly to some extent at the expense of other clubs' first teams.

I understand what you're saying but the reality is that so many clubs come and go and the format of the divisions changes so much these days that stagnation can't occur.
Because the league attracts such a diversity of teams at different levels there are a range of views on how it should be organised and restructuring happens nearly every season now.
Last season the league had two Premier divisions and two lower divisons. This year it's one and three. Next year, who knows?
Some of the clubs who've left this season have entered teams into the new Ryman U21 League. That league will allow three over age players in each game so I can see it being a serious rival to the Suburban for clubs in the future.

Hastings United, Leatherhead and Thamesmead Town are all in the new Ryman Under 21 League (see http://www.isthmian.co.uk/...ion-announced-14718/ ) as are 5 teams from the now defunct Kent Division 1 (see http://scefl.com/ ) as well as 2 (Enfield Town and Grays Athletic) who've left the Essex Reserve League (although Waltham Abbey appear to be competing in both competitions whilst Leiston and Needham Market will also be running teams in both this league and Eastern Counties Division 1, the latter presumably at expense of their Capital League team).

The constitution has changed.
With the CCL reserve section unconfirmed at the AGM Westfield have left and joined the Suburban League. They list the Central Division on their website and it also includes Tooting & Mitcham United taking the division up to 14 teams.

The CCL have announced they won't be running a reserve section this season as it's now down to seven teams. The league are helping those sides find leagues to play in so it's possible the Suburban may change again although some teams are more likely to join the Surrey Elite Reserve Division, maybe even the Hellenic Division 2 for Sandhurst if they're still running a reserve team this season.

With Kent Division 1 also folding I can see Lordswood have also been added to the Suburban Southern Division so 9 of their 14 teams have found new homes (5 in Isthmian U21, 3 in Suburban and Rusthall Reserves in Tonbridge and District League, believe Chatham Town were ceasing their reserve team so only Deal Town, Herne Bay, Holmesdale and Woodstock Sports without homes).
Of the 12 former CCO reserve teams 3 are in the suburban. Warlingham and Worcester Park may simply take the places of their "A" teams in the Redhill & D and Surrey South-East Combination respectively so 7 still homeless (Ash, CB Hounslow, Farleigh, Frimley Green, Raynes Park Vale, Sandhurst and Sheerwater).

I didn't realise Needham were playing in two leagues, but yes they've pulled out of the Cap League. I think they may have bitten off more than they can chew with 54 league games.

Maybe Grays will manage to find their way to Needham this season. Apparently it was a bit far for a Cap League gameTongue

If clubs first team have to be step 3 or above I assume our first team have been promoted to the Ryman Premier division, and Carshalton's first team have not been relegated to Ryman 1 South

Deal Town reserves and Herne Bay reserves look like joining the Kent County league. No official confirmation from the league as yet.
I get the impression that Woodstock Sports may not run a reserve side. But i may have got that wrong.
Holmesdale no idea.

Can see Deal Town Reserves have been added to Division 2 East. No sign of Herne Bay (or others) however as there are only 11 teams in Division 1 East and they were 19 points clear of Deal Town Reserves last year possible they'll turn up there.

KCL are running an under 21 league this season and Herne Bay and Holmesdale have joined it.
It has a constitution of 12 teams but its not been put on the website yet.
It will take the place of Herne Bays reserves.Confirmed.
I guess it will take the place of Holmesdales reserves because i cant see them anywhere else.
I still get the impression that Woodstock Sports will not run a reserve side.

I note CG Hounslow United Reserves (and Bedfont Sports Reserves) have joined Middlesex Division 1 West whilst Warlingham Reserves have joined Redhill & District League Premier Division. Just Ash United Reserves and Sandhurst Town Reserves from CCO Reserves now unaccounted for.

Looking at Sandhursts website there is no mention of a Reserve team only First Team, Youth and Ladies. If they were to run a Reserve team The Aldershot League could be an option.

Sandhurst have disbanded their reserves and midweek Under 18 teams for this season.

http://www.bracknellnews.co.uk/...serve-and-u18-sides/

Ash aren't mentioning a reserve side on their website either. Considering they're groundsharing with Badshot Lea for most, if not all this season, it's possible they've been disbanded as well.

The league's Mitoo pages have been activated and early fixtures released. Chalfont St. Peter and Crowborough Athletic have diappeared but Tooting & Mitcham United have re-appeared along with Lordswood and some of the ex-CCL Reserve Division teams mentioned above. The constitution now is:

Premier Division

Boreham Wood
Bromley
Carshalton Athletic
Corinthian-Casuals
Hampton & Richmond Borough
Metropolitan Police
Sutton United
Tonbridge Angels
Welling United
Woking

North Division

Barton Rovers
Berkhamsted
Dunstable Town
Harefield United
Leighton Town
Newport Pagnell Town
Northwood
Royston Town
Southall
Tring Athletic

Central Division

Ashford Town (Middx)
Camberley Town
Chessington & Hook United
Cobham
Farnham Town
Frimley Green
Hanworth Villa
Hartley Wintney
Knaphill
Molesey
North Greenford United
Tooting & Mitcham United
Uxbridge
Walton & Hersham
Westfield

South Division

Chichester City
Corinthian
Dorking Wanderers
East Grinstead Town
Erith Town
Horley Town
Horsham YMCA
Lingfield
Lordswood
Phoenix Sports
Raynes Park Vale
Redhill
South Park

Teams not playing at their first team's grounds - Southall are listed as playing at Wembley FC whilst Welling are playing at Samuel Montagu Youth Centre and Sutton will be at Banstead Athletic.
In the past Boreham Wood ressies played on their 3G pitch rather than on the main pitch.
