Nice even spread in Vase Can't Post or

Now we are down to the last eight draw it's nice to see an even spread of clubs across the leagues still left in. At the time of writing we still have 12 clubs from 10 leagues before outstanding games are played.

CoCo Hartley Wintney, Camberley Town
Northern Dunston U.T.S. Morpeth Town
ECL Ipswich Wanderers
Essex Bowers & Pitsea
Hellenic Kidlington
Kent (in old money) Ashford United
Midland Hereford
SML Berkhamsted
Wessex Salisbury
Western Bristol Manor Farm

Will be interesting to see who the actual last 8 are, could be 8 from 8 leagues. Also strange no one from NCE and NWC left in?.

Not really, the Northern Lge clubs they come up against in the FAV are usually far superior.

NL versus NCE.... 21 ties, 13-8 in favour of NL
NL versus NWC... 16 ties, 14-2 in favour of NL {inc. Morpeth's w/o 1874 Northwich}

Four Northern League sides were in the last 16, only three have played so far and their record against other leagues is drawn one lost two and one of the defeats was at home. In theory (can't see it happening) there could be no Northern League sides in the last 8.

I think 3 of the 4 Semi-Finalists are nailed on... Hereford, Salisbury, Morpeth ...but we'll see.

Re: [Kesgrave End] Nice even spread in Vase [In reply to] Can't Post or

If Kidlington win their replay and Bristol Manor Farm win there tie, there won't be a very even spread. All the semi-finalists would be in the "Greater South West" and all more or less from Southern League feeders.

Well they didn'tWink

I'm glad Hereford and Salisbury were drawn against each other, a final between two phoenix clubs isn't really what the Vase is about and good luck to Bowers and Pitsea.

I don't like two legged semi finals, rather a one off game at a neutral venue with the first club out the bag getting the advantage, so Cheltenham and Southend?

The SF are usually a money earner for the clubs so I can't see them being scrapped.

They also result in big crowds at grounds that cannot safely accommodate them.

When was there last over crowding at a Vase semi-final?

Rainworth in 1982 maybe?

FA Vase semi programme wanted: 2001 Taunton v Clitheroe.

Quite a few that I've been too, Herne Bay v West Auckland a few years ago comes to mind, crowd trouble as well which was difficult to deal with in a confirmed space.

No. One that springs to mind is AIK of Solna playing there against Arsenal in the Champions League in 1999.
