Problems with 'posting message' Can't Post or Reply Privately

I have spent half an hour last night trying to post on WDYG and when I hit the 'Post message' key, it all disappeared. To solve this problem, which other posters have also experienced, would it be possible to introduce a 'Save As Draft' facility?

Doesn't answer your question but maybe explains the problem.... I saw your post was around 1.30am, a time when I'm sometimes one of the last lurkers on here, from which I've noticed the forum often plays up around that time. I've just assumed it does some kind of automated back up or tidy up routine around then?

Fwiw, I no longer post anything of any length directly into the forum because of the risk of losing it, preferring instead to type separately into, say, Notes/Word/even a draft email (i.e. anywhere I can save a draft), then just cutting and pasting the words into the forum.

Yes there must be some sort of down time at approx 01-00 to 01-30 approx, I have no end of access problems at that time.

Always save a lengthy post before trying to post.

July 1, 2019 to June 30,2020 = 35 / 30/ 5/ inc 2 x 0-0's. (You know my rules) @ 11 / 08 / 2019.
2019/20. Benelux = Bel = 0-0-0-(0-0-0)-(0-2-3-2)/ Lux = 0-3 / Neth = 0-0-0-(2 - 2) Others France = 0-0 / Germany =0-0-0 / Italy =0-3/ Iberia = P = 0-1 & S = 0-1.

About three months ago a problem started occurring every time I posted and that is I was logged out immediately. The post goes through but I have to log back in every time.

The 'Lazarus' browser app. autosaves most field entries and is a godsend in situations like this.

Professional cretin.

Thanks everyone for your help. I've managed to do Saturday's WDYG post again and it is number 68 in the list (ignore post number 61, which I can't delete now.)

There's even something called Notepad on all PCs, where you can copy and paste before you hit the Post button if you are worried about losing it.

Yes problems again between 01-00 & 01-50 , just replied to a post and had to retry as kept getting nothing then eventually looked and it had been posted 3 times. Since deleted 2 !

Also connection onto site is difficult in the wee hours , have admin ever said there is a down time for the site ?

Before anyone says its my computer I can get on other favourite sites during the same periods.

I'm not aware of any scheduled downtime in the early hours. Any such downtime is usually only a couple of minutes, is extremely rare and is notified to me well in advance.
I will try and stay up one night and see if I have similar problems

Still occurring , about 01-20 this morning , just doing a new post and went dead on me. First time I've been on home computer for 10 days and this.

Nearly always approx. same time. Prob only affects me as everybody else is asleep.

Hope this sends.

PS. Well that worked, as you mention in earlier response prob only for a short time but if you lose a longish post its irritating Mad

If I knew timings in advance I obviously wouldn't use but you say you are unaware / know of any down time ?

No as far as I know there isn't any regular scheduled downtime but it's possible the forum performs some sort of backup routine. I will ask the hosts to check.
