And now Glasgow City Council have threatened to ban future Orange Day parades in the city because of certain songs sung last weekend. A shame as i've been on a couple in the past and they are a good day out.

Not sure our new de facto PM would allow such a ban

A bad day for the other Rangers too as the tax man finally wins his case, against which there is no appeal.

Could be bad news for a muckle of English clubs too*.

Celtic (and probably most other clubs) want them stripped of the titles they won whilst cheating.

*I'll take that back - they paid up.

As the judgement is against Oldco, do I assume the HMRC gets nothing for its efforts - other than proving a point and making sure other companies cannot work like this?

Newco are safe from any action that HMRC may want to take as for the cheating, they are not alone. Celtic were involved in the same thing but obviously to a much lesser extent so nothing was done.

Yes, EBT abuse wasn't limited just to football.

Of course the TV companies gave top quality coverage to the 3 British clubs involved in Europe last night, Rangers, The New Saints and Linfield, just as they will when the English clubs enter the affray. Only problem was I couldn't find it.

Bangor City v Lyngby is live on S4C Thursday, KO 6:30pm, programme starts at 6:05pm.

I think your all missing my point, yes there is streaming etc and S4C in wales and ALBA in Scotland will cover Welsh and Scottish clubs respectively, but im talking about the mainstream "British" TV companies ie BBC, ITV, C4, C5, SKY BT Sport etc, who seem to believe that British clubs means only those clubs that play their football in England and I'm saying this as an Englishman who lives in England.

Re: [foreststag] THE Rangers FC [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

And as a Welshman living in Wales, I would say that I fully understand why the main networks don't cover non-English clubs in the qualifying rounds of the European competitions. Their decisions are taken on the basis of likely viewing figures, especially on the commercial channels, where they have to sell the advertising slots around the match. I will be watching Bangor live on S4C tonight, but I bet there won't be 10,000 others doing so, let alone the millions that ITV would need to justify a prime-time evening slot, or even a highlights package later in the evening.

Bizarrely S4C are also showing live coverage of the Tour de France. Not sure why they think it necessary to show this event with Welsh commentary. Are there any Welsh competitors? Welsh people could always watch on Eurosport anyway.

Welsh competitors? Er.....Geraint Thomas? Held the yellow jersey until yesterday.
The only British born cyclist to have held the yellow jersey this century.
The last one was Chris Boardman in 98.

Why would a Welsh language channel have Welsh language commentary on an event they're showing? Aye, it's a mystery all right.

Unless those Welsh people don't have a subscription to Eurosport. S4C clearly think there is market share to be gained, and advertising revenue to attract, by providing free to air coverage of a major European sporting event with (as you may have gathered by now) Welsh and other British participation.

Meanwhile having hauled this thread off to Wales (via France), it's back to Rangers..., not that they are likely to be playing in France this season.

After a 5-0 hammering by Celtic, Newco manager Graeme Murty stayed on as manager throughout Monday - to a lot of people's surprise.

After Steve Gerrard posted all over the sports pages stating that the managers job his is if he wants it must have been a bit of a clue for Murty that his time was up.

Gerrard was a player that always gave 100% for 90+ minutes but managing a club like Rangers for a first job he might find a bit too much for him with his lack of managerial experience.

It could be a bit of a problem for Gerrard if Rangers are ever drawn against Liverpool in the CL or EL! His support of Liverpool is so devoted and genuine that he has publicly stated that he would never play for any other English club, in case they played against the Anfield club.

John Terry said the same thing about playing against Chelsea but has now said he will consider another year at Villa Park whatever division they are in next season.

The last thing Rangers need is an unproven manager like Gerrard.

I wonder if Steve Clarke would be interested.
