On Chris Evans' breakfast show last Friday sports presenter Vassos Alexander called the England Under 20's manager Mark Simpson, getting him mixed up with England Womens manager Mark Sampson whom he spoke to a few days earlier.

After all the plaudits Andy Murray got when he pointed out that Wimbledon had a "male" semi finalist for the first time in however long it was, it was amusing (to me anyway) when the Channel 4 commentator on the England v Scotland Women's Euro game said that Jodi Taylor's hat trick was the first for an England player at a major tournament. Thus becomming the first person in a long time to forget Geoff Hurst

During the pre-match build up to England's second game vs Spain, there was an item about Taylor's hat trick which included congratulatory messages from Hurst and Lineker welcoming her to the Hat Trick Club, or whatever they called it.

In the build up to one of the England games in the Women's Euros, I distinctly heard Caroline Barker say that updates could be obtained via the BT Sport app. All very well but she was on BBC 5Live at the time.

Not a mistake, but the Agnew practical joke on Boycott in yesterday's test match was a classic. Now available on the BBC Radio 5 podcasts.

I sure one of the coaches was heard shouting 'man on' during one of the England women's games at the Euros.

I do not know if anyone can confirm that BBC Radio Scotland reporters were getting worked up over Celtic have a lower UEFA ranking than Everton. Someone I know mentioned this on another forum If so, it counts here - as Celtic do have a better ranking

Two from TMS:- Today, Alison Mitchell announced that England "will be looking for their first ever home series win for 19 years." At Trent Bridge, Duanne Olivier finished the match by taking the last two England wickets in successive balls. Charlie Dagnall: "He'll be on a hat-trick the next time he plays."

A hat-trick has to occur in the same match - can't be carried over I disagree. As long as it's against the same team, it could be across 3 tests IMO!

Not about your opinion; this is the definition - A hat-trick occurs in cricket when a bowler dismisses three batsmen with consecutive deliveries. The deliveries may be interrupted by an over bowled by another bowler from the other end of the pitch or the other team's innings, but must be three consecutive deliveries by the individual bowler in the same match. Only wickets attributed to the bowler count towards a hat-trick; run outs do not count Does your opinion also cross multiple oppositions ?

Not about your opinion; this is the definition - A hat-trick is not defined in cricket law... so the defnition can vary depending on where you read.
Does your opinion also cross multiple oppositions ? Read my post and you'll find out!

In football if a team plays consecutive games against the same opposition, winning 1-0 and 2-0, and one player scores all the goals he isn't credited with a hat trick. Same situation in cricket.

The Channel 4 commentator on the Women's Euro Final said that only one final had both teams scoring at least twice and named Germany 3 Sweden 2. I seem to remember Germany beating England 6-2. Kelly Smith who scored in that game was present but didn't seem to correct the commentator.

Not a sports presenter, but BBC weather presenter Philip Avery was caught out this morning when a viewer sent in a photo featuring a Welsh rugby union ground and he started reminiscing about his youth and the famous Pontypool front row of the time (not that he appears from be from the area). I was suspicious as the viewer's address was in Pontypridd, and, half an hour later, in his next broadcast, Avery admitted that the ground was indeed actually Pontypridd, saying that at least it proved it was live television.

From the Channel 5 highlights of the first day of the day/night test between England and Windies: England were 108/2 at lunch, which was 106 off the bat and 2 extras We were told 22 boundaries had been hit [all 4s] and only 16 "other" runs. Which by my calcs leaves a couple missing.
