Virgin Trains East Coast seat Sale Can't Post or

The west coast did a seat sale, now it's the turn for the east coast. I just bought tickets to Leeds, London and Newcastle all day returns for less than 80 total. The seat sale ends Monday, with half price 500,000 tickets available. Is anyone here going to use this to go to watch non league games the other side of the country? Or has anyone done the seat sale before on the West coast or other routes, maybe to see more non league games than you would have done otherwise?
*I'm not sure if this is in the right section, or should go under non league chat.

Used the West Coast sale on plenty of occasions, but 99.9% of the time it has just been to Bolton or Hibs games that I may or may not have been going to anyway.

There is a section for this Special offers and promotions thread and Paulh66 has alerted us to this ECML sale.

Have used these in the past but not to travel any great distance to watch neutral games more so non football related days out.

As there are no special offers to get from Portsmouth-London on trains and rarely on coaches I would need to add 25 to the price Crazy

But if you plan, say, a Portsmouth to Leeds trip through the Virgin site, it'd be 50% off the whole price, not just the Virgin leg. Though the vagaries of rail prices in this country mean it might still be the case that that price works out dearer than buying a discounted ticket from London and paying your normal fare from Pompey to London. Worth a look though.

I've said the same about Oxford even with numerous split ticketing fares seem ridiculous high and no where as cheap as some of the offers banded about on here. The only exception being the odd Chilton promotion which tends to limit you to London or Brum the latter using a strange route.

People tell me about Mega Bus but again when I have a gander no offers around these parts.

The Megabus website has a single ticket for sale from Oxford (Randolph Hotel) to Portsmouth (The Hard) for Monday 25th September for 3 that I might well book myself. Says the journey time is just over two and a half hours, which is actually slightly faster than it normally takes me by train, what with me usually having to wait at Guildford for forty minutes or so.

I've never used Megabus before, so quite fancy giving them a go.

I've only looked at going north and most of those said the pick up was Oxford Parkway Park & Ride.

I doubt Max Chilton has much room in his car.
